I don't think it will happen but I'd like to see Kane keep the title at least past SummerSlam, and ideally up until Survivor Series. Sadly, however it seems pretty evident (from my perspective, at least) that we're only going to experience a short "keeping the title warm for Undertaker before dropping it to him at SummerSlam" reign.

Thats exactly what I think they're trying to pull off. With Punk hurt, the main event scene on Smackdown is essentially Swagger, Mysterio, and Show...and instead of hotshotting Drew McIntyre into the main event picture, they refreshed him, made him credible, and even better, made him a tweener in the process. Considering how shallow things are, until 'Taker comes back there needs to be a flexible champion.

Kane is always built up as a credible threat, winning or not, primarily because JR, King, and MC have done a great job selling him even when he was jobbing. He's at the rare stage that he shares with HBK, Show, HHH, and Undertaker (among others) that no matter how many times he goes away or gets his ass kicked, he's always a force to be reckoned with.

HHH and Undertaker never get their ass kicked or slum in the midcard though. Still, I get your point.
He is a lot like Big Show, and HBK from his second run. I think Jericho falls into that category as well. They are established main eventers who spend a lot of time in the midcard or jobbing, but reach a bulletproof status where no matter what they're doing they can be cycled in and out of the main event at any time. |

it should be a legit feud between kane and undertaker i think to have it end at summerslam would be a big waste of time im thinkin taker appears at summerslam and kane drops it at survivor series

I stopped 'buying Kane as a threat' years ago. Kane as WHC for any reason other than loyalty and/or to flip the belt to Taker in 2010 is lazy and/or daft.

Kane is always a threat since the fans pop to see him beat the shit out of people no matter where he is on the card. Kane may slum in the midcard a lot, and not be as imposing as he was in the mask days, but I don't have a problem accepting him as a champion now or at any point, regardless of where he was a month ago

He probably wouldn't be in the position he's been in for so long/even still employed if that weren't the case. I myself just haven't cared about him in an age. I'm happy for him personally that he got it but barring a big overhaul, he's hardly about to set business alight.

He's not going to set the world on fire at all (awful pun), but in the age of two world titles I think a Kane run is overdue.
I definitely would have preferred it in 2002 or earlier, but I'm just happy to see it. Thankfully he's bulletproof with the crowd and years of inconsistent booking and bad changes to his gimmick haven't stopped the majority from buying him, I think. I guess time will tell on that but either way I don't expect it to last very long or do any real damage. So to me it's all win. I certainly have an easier time buying this than Swagger or even Rey. |

With this being the first Money in the Bank PPV, it isn't really surprising that the WWE went with an established guy winning one, and then a rising star winning the other. If you had Drew McIntyre and The Miz both win, then you have so many new guys you are pushing to the moon (Wade Barrett, Sheamus, The Miz, Drew McIntyre). The only real doubt I had about McIntyre winning was that if he cashed in on Rey Mysterio, then you would have had Sheamus and McIntyre as the respective World Champions. That's two guys that a lot of people don't feel are ready. Kane may not exactly be a guy always circling around the title, but him winning is putting the World Title on a guy that has technically been there before (no matter how brief it was), and has a tremendous rapport with the fans. It also helps to add to that "who is going to win?" stigma that floats around the match, and makes it harder to typecast a potential winner. MITB matches are getting almost impossibly hard to call. That it also made perfect sense within the Swagger/Mysterio storyline works to. I didn't call it when I first saw it, for the same reasons that many have said -- Kane is fairly established and doesn't need it, etc. -- but when you look back and see how Kane still thinks Swagger is responsible for The Undertaker's condition, his saving Rey made sense in a babyface sort of "I'm here for my own motives and they just tie into your well-being" sort of way; but also into the fact he was SmackDown!'s MITB holder, and Rey was the World Heavyweight Champion. Quote:
Plus, when they do start Kane vs. Taker, it is almost definite that Kane will be playing the heel. Beating up poor Rey gives people little hints towards Kane's inevitable turn. Quote:
While it might just be my wishful thinking, I'm also hopeful that this isn't just to hot-shot the title back onto Undertaker. He's had more than enough runs with the belt, and it's no secret that the guy has a tremendous amount of respect to Kane (even as far as being willing to drop his streak to him). Conventional booking sort of says that The Undertaker needs to look good against Kane, as he'll be the babyface out for revenge, but there is a part of me that is hopeful in that since we're not around WrestleMania, Taker might give Kane one of the biggest wins of his career, and put him over. Taker will no doubt beat Kane eventually, and that's technically the way it should be, but let's say Kane faces Rey in a one-on-one rematch at SummerSlam. Kane goes over cleanly and then goes after Mysterio's leg. Michael Cole is screaming "Kane has snapped!" You can even drop hints that Kane believes Rey is responsible because he only got his Fatal 4-Way shot once Taker was out of the picture. Kane is destroying Rey's leg when the lights go out, and then The Undertaker is in the ring. "You did it to me, Kane." The Big Red Machine is freaking out, and goes to boot Taker, but the Dead Man side-steps and starts throwing hard rights at Kane. He sends Kane packing in the end to the SmackDown! portion of the show. SmackDown! features Kane cutting a weird backstage promo, finally confessing that he did do it -- cue Kane's maniacal laugh. "It was so easy." Taker gets his shot at Night of Champions, and the two brothers face off. Hopefully they work a smarter match than they have in the past, increasing the quality, and Kane just can't put Taker down with the World Heavyweight Title on the line. He goes nuts and gets himself disqualified (I hate that on PPVs, but I think with these two it will work). Kane is about to do something that would "comatose" The Undertaker again, but the lights go out, and when they're back on, Taker is nowhere to be found. The next PPV is Hell in a Cell, where they have enough history to really warrant the stipulation. Even though it would seem obvious that The Undertaker would go over there, reverse fate and have Kane just get so vicious he actually beats his brother and retains his title. Survivor Series is next, and that's the "birthplace" of Taker. Kane can say it'll be where he meets his final end. You can either go with Kane vs. The Undertaker in a Casket Match, or something, or have a team of guys reluctantly assigned to team up with the monsters. Either way, Taker will probably have his moment there. If the title isn't on the line, then it leads to one final match between the two to close out 2010 at Tables, Ladders & Chairs. Personally, I'd love to see Kane win the feud, but it probably ain't gonna happen. That's just in time for someone to win the Royal Rumble (my bet is Randy Orton), and tease him having the choice between John Cena and The Undertaker. Two massive main events right there. |

Guy gets rebuilt as a monster all the time. It's clear it works. The only thing WWE needs to do to make it work as a champion-level deal is not job him out two weeks after. It can work for most hosses, but Kane's gimmick probably makes it work even easier. Pretty much already been explained, so I'm not sure why I need to repeat myself. |

Though you did call it lazy and/or daft, which does kind of preclude the notion that it's a good idea.
But I'm glad you're now contesting an uncontested point. You asked me to explain and I explained. |

Stop being so narrow, KK. He doesn't have to explain in your rules. He's got his opinion of Kane's title run. It doesn't match up with yours. Whatever.

Of course it's opinion. Until you can produce a mathematical formula for estimating the value of a performer, almost everything on here will remain opinion. Derp. Yup, doesn't match up. Hence, argument. Derp. I wasn't defining it by my terms. Unless you're talking the very specific case of him saying something that you'd be hard pressed to find non-commercial reasoning for saying. In which case, he can defend himself. Derp. |

Way to reach. I think the statue of limitations has run out on that one. Claim of right to an opinion isn't a stupid person trick. When people hide behind an opinion that has no basis, I sort of see your point. But not everyone lives in a little debating bubble. You have to understand that, right? CSL has zero interest in Kane. That is enough.
Thank you for defeating yourself with your second attempt at a paragraph. Derp. No, an arguement on your terms. Instead of putting the onus on everyone else to please you, why don't you try and prove to CSL why Kane should be interesting. And don't bring up those "uncontested points" like "casuals would love it." Discuss it on his terms and see how well you do. He doesn't need to "defend himself." Jesus Christ, get off your fat ass and get a law degree or something. Don't take that bullshit into regular interaction. How the fuck you find me autistic is beyond me. CSL does not need commercial reasoning to dislike Kane being the World Champion. Quote:
He's not wrong to say that. There's a difference in discussing something productively, and trying to bash another person's ideas out of them using straw-men and insults which really don't make you seem as witty as you think you are. Facepalming is old, dude. Derp. Instead of getting so bogged down in "Stupid People Tricks," maybe actually read what a person is saying. |
