![]() MGS4 I can understand, what with all the cut scenes and all... But it does tie the series up nicely and IMO is a masterpiece, more as a story than a game though... Halo 2...? Pretty much kick started online console multiplayer. Plus with an amazing community. FFX is beautiful, favourite next to IX... |

I have noticed a trend in the games I listed, most of them came out directly after an exceptional game in the series or was hyped to hell and back by either the media or people I know.
MGS2 - After playing the first, not having Snake as the main character, being on an oil rig and having some of the most annoying cut scenes and gameplay at certain points made it for a lousy follow up. Fable 2 - I played TLC before this and while it is a good game, I thought it would be better. Super Mario World 2 - I don't think its fair, as Super Mario World is a classic. Smackdown: Just Bring It - Thanks for eating my memory card along with a few hours of my life playing this crap. Ratchet and Clank: UYA - Going Commando was better across the board. Jet Li: Rise to Honor - So many commercials, so little fun. Modern Warfare 2 - After COD4's single player, I didn't like this at all and I never touched Black Ops single player. Resident Evil 5 - Sweet jesus motherfucking christ, whoever thought of Sheeva should be punched in the fucking balls until their nose bleeds. GTA2 - The original was a classic, this seems like a holdover to GTA3 Gears of War - It didn't feel any different from any other shooter to me. MGS4 - Reason Above Halo 2 - Reason Above UFC 2010 - Felt same as UFC 2009 SvR 2007 - I played the shit out of SvR 2006, played like an hour of this and was like :\ Doom 3 - No flashlights on any gun made me switch back and forth from flashlight to gun over and over and over and over. It was a good game, but that annoyed me. Amnesia: The Dark Descent - Not as scary as people say. Final Fantasy 8 - Story. Final Fantasy 9 - Right out of the Blue Necron Final Fantasy 10 - Reasons above. Final Fantasy 10-2 - ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH FUCK YOU SQUARE ENIX! FUCK YOU! Final Fantasy 11 - Honestly, shouldnt be here because it was alright but again, I expected more. Final Fantasy 12 - Same as 11 |

Bliztball? Terrible characters? Blitzball? Dungeons that were beautiful and still boring? Blitzball? I don't hate Blitzball, btw. Just hear people bitch about it ALL THE FUCKING TIME. It's not THAT bad. Part of what poisoned it for me was that it was one of the first major RPGs with voiceovers. Not sure if it was the first, don't care. Voiceovers, especially in those days, meant more linearity and less character options. These days, we're getting a little multipathign back, but not much. on top of it being voiced, the voices were awful and the characters were terrible. Not every FF game was full of winners, but you could mitigate their badness by not having to listen to them. Voiceovers for a shitty haracter just highlight the shittiness. Plus, the world seemed less spectacular. I don't know, FFVII for all its flaws, wowed us with FMV for the first time in a FF game, maybe an RPG in general on that scale. It wasn't JUST the fact that it was pretty advanced visually for the time, it was the sense of scope. And X lacked that. |

I liked Blitzball, hated what was basically running down corridors with no real freedom.
They fixed that in 12 and made a great game and then just decided to go back to it for the arse rapingly horrible FF13. |

GTA 4. quite liked the story and a lot of the features, the graphics were amazing but you can't turn a corner without having to manually move the camera round with it, otherwise you're just getting in to head on collisions all the time. combined with the fact it feels like a slo-mo bambi on ice and considering how much i loved all the 3 series of GTA it just pisses me off i never got any replay value out of it because it felt too much like a chore to play.

WWE SVR 2010, I played it for a couple of days and stopped. Why? Um, they took out the fucking SINGLE PLAYER modes. Unless you like random exhibition matches, why bother? No GM mode, no career mode.
Thank god SVR '11 had Universe mode to add some longevity. |

It doesn't help in the case of SvR 2010 that even if you love online games, if more than 2 people are onlline at once, the servers just died.

Jurassic Park on Super Nintendo.
You couldnt save the game and I had to leave my SNES on overnight to wake up and beat it. You get to the end all you see is a big Jurassic Park logo. I was young and I actually wrote to Nintendo to complain about it. |

The good news is, with modern games, you'd rarely have to worry bout leaving your console on overnight. You can usually knock them off in three hours. So unless you have a REAL early bedtime....

I'm going Uncharted 3. While still a great game, it doesn't stack up to the first 2 other than in the graphics department. The story seems to be getting going and then BAM it's over with no real climax or explanation of anything. Not to mention it has one of the easiest 'final boss' encounters in gaming history. Beat it the first time without even getting hit.
It's still a great game but I was expecting so much more than a pointless string of set piece moments. |

Remember waiting years for this to come out. Seemed so cool. Loved the Idea of using Norse Mythology. Then a turd arrived and after my 5th "Resurrection" or so I just shut it off and never played again. |

Really can't believe someone put Halo 2 on here. It's the sole reason that XBL did as well as it did and maybe the only reason we have xbox 360 today.

lol @ 'shitty tacked on multiplayer'
You're an idiot. What was 'tacked on' about it? That's my main question to you, before I go on with the rest of my pseudo-rant about what a moronic comment that was. What was tacked on about its multiplayer? Halo 2 and the subsequent games are -focused- on the multiplayer. The reason the Halo series got popular was because of its multiplayer. It was a fluke. A mediocre/cliche single player game with a tacked on multiplayer (THAT was a tacked on multiplayer component), got insanely popular due to the fact that its multiplayer mechanics just WORKED, fluidly and took skill, with maps that were just well-designed. Halo 1 had an insanely devoted LAN gaming community that took Halo into Major League Gaming and took skill-based shooters to a whole different level. It wasn't just about the one-shot Counter-Strike crowd anymore. Halo 2 is regarded as one of its better multiplayer experiences, especially among the MLG crowd. Eklipse is right. Halo 2's matchmaking made XBL. Prior to that, in Halo 1, people used XboxConnect to play online with each other. A shitty lan-like service that was downright terrible, because they wanted multiplayer that bad. There was a very hardcore community that wanted more of a multiplayer experience, and Halo 2 delivered. I mean, I get if you suck at shooters, since Halo is pretty much the definition of a skill-based shooter. In fact, that's the only reason I can think of for thinking its Multiplayer is 'shitty and tacked on'. You're bad at it, and couldn't grasp the combination of its shooting/movement mechanics and apply it to a controller due to 'fat thumbs' or shitty reflexes. As far as shooters go, it was incredibly balanced. Weapons took skill and precision to use, and shots had to be placed accurately to take someone down because it is -not- a realistic shooter. The game itself had character, humor, and still took itself seriously enough to be a competitive shooter that attracted a very devoted crowd. Uh-oh, I used the 'you hate it because you suck at it' argument. Too bad it's entirely the case, because that's just the type of multiplayer it has. Quit being a little girl. This is just you talking out of your ass. I'm fully expecting you to just brush the majority of this post off and call me retarded in some fashion. Surprise me. |

I took it as he meant games after Halo 2 tried to copy it by adding shitty, tacked on multiplayer and not a knock at Halo 2.

I gathered that first part. That's pretty obvious. But look at who is posting it, and look at his earlier post as well. Why would he say it's the cause of it, if he didn't think it had that quality in the first place? I must be crazy to think Kane Knight is taking a swing at something.
