So what if this is like a really fun game that kind of introduces a lot of new game play features to the genre of shooters but doesn't change everything?

People are so used to hyped titles having to be groundbreaking and graphically realistic that they forget about it just being fun. That is my only expectation for this game. After 13 years I just wanna be able to play it and have fun doing so

Well DNF is going to the next step as far as interactivity goes.

If you see a pool table or pinball machine, you can play them. You can work out at any gyms you come across. You can turn out lights, drink beer, drink from a fountain, use the toilet, draw/write on things, get lap dances, use a glory hole, pick up crap and I'm sure a lot more. Not to mention that the surroundings seem to react to certain things, like throwing crap at a ceiling fan brings physics into play and the fan begins to swing.
That's all pretty interactive for an FPS.

Plus it's bringing a lot of "adult" themes to mainstream gaming, even if it is in an immature way. Nudity, sex, booze, smoking, violence, language etc. Yeah, most games have a couple of them but it's usually only just in a certain part of the game or in a few different scenes. DNF has them all pretty much through out, as I understand it.

Content like that wasn't something you'd usually see on a store shelf. So for those two reasons, I'd say it is somewhat groundbreaking in the sense that it's opening up the freedoms of what games can do and contain.

In the end, it is just about fun. One of the reasons I don't like these war FPS games is because the fun has been sucked right out of them to make them "real" and "gritty" etc. Plus they all look so much alike graphically and in gameplay that I can't even distinguish between them.

Only games I can recall coming anywhere close to that level of interactivity would be GTA: San Andreas and GTA IV.

It's being said you can visit 69 floors of Dukes casino and that the game will have 300+ easter eggs. Now, what is meant by "easter eggs"? To me, easter egg would be a secret like a hidden reference under a hidden rock.
I'm not sure if that's what they mean by easter egg or if they mean easter egg as in everything we can interact with.

Not sure, either, but given the Duke's long history in videogames they'd be crazy not to put in at least 1 easter egg referencing a previous game in the series.

Or so you'd think anyway...guess we'll all find out this June.

He dropped his pistol when he picked up the shrink ray, could've swore I read that this was more like Duke3D and not modern shooters that only let you use 2 weapons.

Duke can only carry 2 weapons at a time, apparantly. Health or "Ego" recharges as well.

It seems a bit strange to make an "old school" FPS and include the two least popular traits of modern FPS games.

Interview and MP footage.

Embedding is disabled and trying to embed from Gamespot doesn't show up. We see some of the costumisation we can use on Duke and I just know MP will be full of people in Uncle Sam hats.

Never knew about the "mutators", sounds cool.

Duke Nukem almost had a sidekick character to help him in the game and it would have been a gay robot as a way to show how Duke would interact with someone who had different views. No exact reason to why the robot was removed was given although the story revolving the two characters was mostly done by the time of the change.

The robot would also have played a bigger role in the story where the robot sacrifices itself so that Duke could escape and continue the game.

Videos of gameplay are put up and taken down just as quickly.

Isn't Hasney usually able to get this stuff? If he could and he does, I need to know if the games text is readable on an SD widescreen TV.
I'm not sinking £68 in a limited edition of a game if I can't play it.

I've no idea what a Jtag console even is.

I'm hoping videos start to surface long enough to view. You'd think people would realise "I should upload this else where. YouTube just removes it."

Someone should just make a video, upload it to a file site, link people to it and let it spread that way.

A jtagged 360 makes it so you can play anything that you don't buy, games, xbla games, dlc and does other things, like booting games without the need for the disc. Compared to a flashed 360 that just lets you play burned games.

Demo will arrive on June 3 only if you pre-ordered the game but its possible everyone else would get access to it 1-2 weeks later.

Yeah, that's what the above video was announcing. Some people think it's a bad sign that the demo isn't out to the general public until after release.

I use the RGB Scart. The other one is for HD only, isn't it?

My tv is about 32 inches.

There are two kinds of "hd only" games. The ones like Dead Rising and Mass Effect which genuinely are unreadable on anything other than an HD tv and there are the ones like Fable III where you can get barely readable text if you change your 360 display settings to "normal" rather than "widescreen".

Randy Pitchford took questions from the Xbox UK community, answer questions about DNF. Here are some things worth mentioning:

- Duke Nukem Forever wont be the last Duke Nukem game (obviously).
- There will be no splitscreen in DNF because it's not possible to render more than one screen at a time.
- The story mode is about 15 hours long. (I'm assuming that's not counting messing about with stuff)
- It's likely but not 100% that DNF will get DLC.
- The interactivity is bigger than we've seen. The interactivity we've seen in videos is just the tip of the iceberg and he doesn't think we'll even find everything we can interact with because there is so much.
- The demo is only available to First Access Club Members and everyone else will get it after release.
- The demo isn't the only reward FAC members will get.

Just seems a little crazy to write the review, say a month or even a half-month out (or longer), especially when that can leave the window open 4 so many delays and all...something that this game is quite infamous for.

Isn't that the point of games going "gold"? They go "gold" a month or so before release when production and distribution of the game itself starts. I'm sure reviewers get their copies then and agree not to release their review until the game drops

Gamestop announced it will honor the old pre-orders of the game when it done before Gearbox took over development duties for those who still kept the receipt. Also the same stuff that was to be offered will still be given.
