Yeah, I've like our chances of winning the division for awhile now and getting the sweep here definitely gives us confidence. A lot could happen between now and the end of the season so predicting the wild card is going to be hard. Could be Detroit, Chicago, Boston or NY.
I dunno about the returning players though. Matsui/Sheff are supposed to be back in August/September I believe but both had injuries to their wrists so who knows how they will do swinging the bat. Pavano I really am not expecting anything at all out of since he hasn't pitched in more than a year. Dotel is coming back soon so he will definitely help out the pen some, he's not gonna be a savior for the bullpen like some people are saying but he will help a lot. That 5th spot in the rotation is the glaring problem right now though. |

A little bit of consistency from Johnson and Wright would be nice too, Mussina and Wang have both been solid as fuck

The White Sox are going to start slipping here. Against Boston and New York, they were 1-5 with the only win coming in like a 19 inning crap shoot. Now, nine of their next 13 series's are against teams above .500 including Texas, Detroit, NY Yankees again, Toronto, Minnesota and Boston. The only "easy" opponents left this year are a few series' with Kansas City and Cleveland, one with Baltimore and one with Tampa Bay.
I'm predicting that Detroit takes 2/3 in the next series that starts Tuesday. |

I like NY to win the division, and I stick by prediction of Toronto in 2nd. Besides beating up on crappy NL teams Boston has been pretty average this year. 37-35 vs. the AL.

The yank who does analysis on the UK coverage has Boston shit all over his nose (he's a Sox fan...from SoCal), constantly going on about how well rounded and deep their roster is but i dunno, if its that good why haven't they pulled away from a depleted Yankee team and a not quite there yet Jays squad?

Bradley pointing at Red Sox fans and saying "Shut the fuck up" is the funniest thing ever though. I wonder if they will make him a sign that says "TRADER"

Red Sox pitching is way too shaky to be a serious contender right now I think. They might be able win the division title since the Yankees really aren't much better off but I can't see the Blue Jays being apart of it at the end. Maybe but I dunno, I realize they are the trendy "new" pick but I still don't see them being there at the end. It seems like the last few seasons though the Blue Jays have had great success againest the Red Sox, I guess they just don't carry that over in all their games. I really can't see the Red Sox contending for the World Series though with their pitching, it is too bad because they are unbelievable on the defensive side of the ball this year and the hitting is always there. Even though Schilling is a D-bag, he has been the only Red Sox pitcher that has pitched constantly good throughout the entire season. But Milton Bradley pointing at a fan is probably the most hilarious thing ever though, its almost as funny as him through a bag of balls out on the field ![]() |

Yeah, I think Toronto will just be hanging around in the division like they've done all year but can't see them being on top at the end. Anything is possible I guess with Boston/NY having all these injury problems. I have a good feeling that the Yanks will be on top.
The Yankees have streaks with their pitching though where they all pitch very good and then everyone gets bombed except Moose and Wang. It's gonna be hard to get any long streaks going unless we get a #5 pitcher as well. But I do see us being at the top in the end and then gotta hope for the pitchers to be in a hot steak in the playoffs lol. And anything that Sheff/Matsui/Pavano/Dotel do for us down the stretch will help a lot. I had to cringe when I saw the bottom of our lineup (Aaron Guiel batting 6th lol) today though but they stepped up big. |

What is the Sox starting rotation like right now, I know they have Schilling, Beckett, Wakefield, Lester I think and who else? Is Clement or Wells coming back at all?

Ah, same thing with the Yankees then. Chacon, Kris Wilson and now Sidney Ponson is next to try the #5 spot out.

5.61
Right Gertner, 5.61. Which should be enough to tell you he's shit. More hits than innings, 1.3 homers allowed per game, only 5 more K's than walks. But yeah, congratulations on that 6-2 record. The Blue Jays runs scored in Chacins wins: 6 8 10 7 13 8 Real tough to win under those conditions. I remember when the Blue Jays gave him a 4 run lead against Tampa Bay and he couldn't make it to the 4th inning. That was the game he gave up home runs to "the next big trio in baseball" Damon Hollins, Toby Hall, and Russel Branyan. Meanwhile, Blanton gives up a run less per nine innings than Chacin and just owned the Red Sox in Fenway. He also, y'know, makes it out to the mound every 5th day. Blanton > Chacin, AGAIN *yawn* |

Are you really that retarded? Him "winning" HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HIM PITCHING WELL. Chacin stunk up the place almost every single start this year but the Blue Jays scored runs. Why are you giving him credit for what the offense did?

Joe Blanton: 3.53 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 5.19 K/9, 1.73 K/BB
Gustavo Chacin: 3.72 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, 5.36 K/9, 1.73 K/BB Nope, sorry. Blanton allowed less runs and allowed many fewer baserunners. Chacin was better at striking people out but that's it. |

No, I included numbers relevant to the debate. We're talking about which pitcher was better, not which offense was better.

If wins matter so much, who would you rather have?
Pitcher A: 6-6 / 3.06 Pitcher B: 11-5 / 5.12 |
