4 is worth it as well if you've got a PS3. It gets ripped on a little, but it's awesome for me.

I don't have a PS3, only jumped to Sony this gen.

Been tempted to get a cheapo second hand one, feel I missed out on a lot of good games by opting for the 360 last generation.

Yeah I loved 4. The ending and the twists and turns that precede it can be hard to follow, but its not bad as long as you pay attention.

Snake eater is still the best storywise.

Some new details on how Forward Operating Bases work within the game and some restrictions on attacking other people's bases:

Konami clarified things regarding rumors of a microtransaction system being in the game.

They confirmed it does exist, isn't pay-to-win, and was done because of how large the game is scale and time wise.

The game is not pay 2 win. Here's some ways you can pay money to win.

I wouldn't be bothered about it in the single player, but with this shit, I might turn off the base invasion mode as having people with equipment they've bought would be a pain in the arse.

I mean, with these type of statements that seem to be occurring more frequently, do they take their audience as dumb?

Also, usually something along the lines of "You don't HAVE TO pay for items/equipment, but you can" indicates a system that takes FORFUCKINGEVER to unlock without spending money.

They've not specifically announced exactly what you can do with them, but it works like a F2P game on mobile from what people saw at the press event. So if something takes a while to build on your base, you can pay to make it happen instantly. Not got enough credits for a weapon or to fulton something? Well by golly you could buy more credits to make it happen!

It won't matter so much later on if you've just had the patience to do everything, but early on, you'd be screwed by people willing to put down serious cash.

And it helps you win online contests? I'm still not sure where the advantage is aside from having extra stuff others have to play longer for.

I'm not defending MGS or anything, I just seen so many people who don't understand competitive balance scream what is and isn't balanced and I wanna know if this is really P2W.

I'm not a fan of Pay 2 Win. SFxT's gems were not cute.

For those in Europe and/or are considering going to Gamescom next month, Konami announced they are bringing a playable demo of the game for the public among the stuff they are showing off.

Some good and bad news:

The good news being the PC version will be arriving a month earlier than planned. New release date announced as September 1st instead of mid-September.

The bad news being MGS Online has been delayed till October 6th for console versions and January 2016 for PC.

Gamespot posted their review recently along with a possibly bad tidbit about the game. Review itself was very positive with their main negative being pacing issues near the end of the game.

In terms of the bad tidbit, online mode's PvP battles require a real currency payment before it can be played. Konami stated they have no official announcements regarding this issue until next week when the game launches.

The PVP can be played without paying. GameSpot said it needs MB coins, which it does, but these are earnable by playing.

Reviews are awesome for it. There's a lot less codec and a lot more tapes like Peace Walker. I'm OK with this, I can listen to the story while I plan my attacks.

There's 2 endings though which is why some reviews are mixed on them. Unfortunately, a lot of reviewers haven't bothered with the true ending but those that have say it's amazing.
