Another snoozer of a show. Was looking forward to this as maybe where they did something with MJF but I guess they're going to wait for it to cool off completely. Nice.

Look, I get the injuries. But you have to make due and use it as an opportunity to bring others up the card. No, not Orange Cassidy. What is their plan with Hook? Is he too green still?

They're doing the right thing with Wardlow but he can't fill up 3 hours of programming.

That’s a pretty nice start to Death Before Dishonor. Keen to see what other former ROH guys wind up in the fold. Assume Gresham will be getting booked with him still being the champ and all. Maybe him vs Brian Cage who I assume will get some level of a push under the ROH banner.

They really need to solidify plans for ROH and break it away. Select a roster and go separate ways. They’ve too many acts and titles to service at the moment and it’s all very messy.

Yeah it's on Rampage. I have to think Gresh will have a singles match at the PPV.

Would seem they're still waiting for a TV deal to properly break it away, hopefully that happens sooner rather than later so ROH can really be its own entity. Nice as the PPV card is shaping up, I'm not feeling like ordering a PPV for a 3rd month in a row so it's TV time going to a PPV I won't watch. Would rather it be its own thing.

The weird thing about the MJF is that I feel like in the eyes of most of their regular fanbase, the angle isn't "cooled off" because him being completely out of sight and out of mind is part of it. One look at AEW's subreddit or AEW twitter and you'll see that most of the fans accept it because the whole point is he's gonna crash the show unannounced one day. People who buy tickets to AEW shows are among the diehards that watch every week so chances are high the crowd will erupt whenever he shows and it'll immediately become the focal angle of the company again.

But the angle most definitely has cooled off to any new viewers who were tuning in after hearing about MJF's pipebomb. I'd guess most of those folks noped back out within a week or 2 of zero follow up.

Again I suspect like 90% of the regular viewers will "mark out" when he returns no matter how far down the line it is. Maybe 10% will be like "meh, they waited too long, don't care". But no new fans will have been made from this thing.

As someone who will most likely still be watching every week, I will probably enjoy the payoff. But it's been a strange piece of business.

I also don't know how much longer they will wait or what they are waiting for. Are they waiting for Punk to come back? Nobody knows when that will be. He's gonna have to face Moxley when he returns, and I'd be willing to bet they work something with NJPW to give him the Tana match too. Also, are we really doing Punk/MJF again? The feud ruled but it's strange to go right back to it so soon.

All Out is 8 more weeks away. Grand Slam is 10 weeks away. That's a long time to possibly keep stretching this out if they are waiting for a "milestone" event.

Again, most of the regulars will be happy to see him whenever he's back but it's weird to consciously keep a guy like him benched for that long.

I second this. Scrap Dark or Elevation and make it ROH if you have to. Get this thing going some how. ROH is needed in more ways than one. The ROH fanbase is probably fiending over their lack of action. I bet good money that ROH PPV's and tapings sell out for the first few months once they are announced.

I don’t get what the MJF angle is even supposed to be. He’s going to come back and he’ll be back? Why have they done this? I wouldn’t be surprised if they still haven’t properly sorted things out and he never comes back, lol.

If TK can pay someone to relaunch ROH without stepping on Warner’s toes too much, MJF makes sense there. But they could have just had him jump to ROH. I really don’t get this.

Not entirely sure the exact direction they are going with it and I'm not even sure Tony himself knows what he wants to do to make it work yet.

I'm guessing this will be a big investment for them to properly get over and not screw up since the promo got such a good reaction so there is probably a lot of kinks being thrown into the decision on how to bring MJF back and where to go from here with the angle in general. I really believe nothing is edged in stone and this hasn't been completely decided yet...

You would be inclined to think he’d be at the ROH PPV, right? Even though it’s owned and operated by Tony Khan, it makes enough sense as an alien entity for him to be there. I remember hearing so much about Gresham and then I saw him and chuckled. He’s tiny.

As far as MJF goes I’m not sure what direction there is to go with him at the moment. Punk is hurt and it’s clear they’re boring time till he comes back. And I don’t know how they could bring MJF back in the current landscape and make it work. It also hasn’t been that long since he’s been gone. Getting scrubbed from the company only to come back a month or so later doesn’t really sell the authenticity of it all.

When punk walked out with the title he was gone a week and it all felt so short and rushed. I’d rather they this bath and have him crash the show when we’re least expecting it.

How supportive are WBD of TK having another wrestling promotion to distract himself with? You’d think they’d want Dynamite and Rampage to be better before he went and poured a bunch of resources into ROH.

Gresham is just too small for me to take him that seriously. Danielson is a small fit and he’s half a foot taller. Gresham also comes off like a nerds even when he tried cutting a serious promo last week. Just don’t buy it.

Once they ROH on weekly TV, they should get the belt off him ASAP.
