Back from the DL, Chacin still as terrible as usual. 5 ER in 1.1 innings, I think that might have actually been better than his 5 rehab starts in AAA. So with no injury anymore what's your excuse now, Gertner?

Gotta give the CWS credit for being where they are considering how average their rotation is, ridiculous run scoring, that can't get them through the playoffs though. Also Jim Thome = not MVP, purely because Dye and Konerko have been just as valuable to them, Crede's also been key. Ortiz is so gonna get it.

Dye should get some love for AL MVP (as I have already posted) and Thome being hurt when we need him the most is going to suck. This has been a strange year for the Sox. At times, the pitching staff has shown flashes of greatness. Garland pitched a hell of a game today (the staff just can't get on a roll) and Jenks leads all of baseball in saves (36). Like you said, the offense is ridiculous right now and our defense is just as solid as it was last year (Rowand who? Anderson is the man in CF).

But what makes it so strange is the fact that no matter what as been said about the team, they are still 23 games over .500. They have the 3rd best record (75-52) in the AL and the 4th best record overall.

I don't want to say that the season will come down to this weekend with the Twins, but it is one of the most important series left this year (so important that it really should be all over ESPN, but of course will not be).

Albert Belle gets 3 months in jail, probation
August 24, 2006

PHOENIX (AP) -- Former major league slugger Albert Belle was sentenced to three months in jail and five years of supervised probation Thursday for stalking his ex-girlfriend.
The 39-year-old Belle pleaded guilty in July to one felony stalking count. He had initially been arrested and charged in February, then rearrested May 17 at his Scottsdale home after he again contacted the victim. He has been jailed since the second arrest, and received credit for time served only since he entered his plea.

I think the Twins would do more in the postseason than Chicago as things stand, but there's a month to go so who knows, I can't see Detroit going all the way this time, I reckon it'll be between the WC and East winners when it comes down to it, assuming Detroit do win the Central. Although the A's are on a tear right now, 22 of 28 or something, they might finally do what they've been threatening to for a decade...
