This game is tempting me to buy a PS4.

That said, it's insanely ambitious. I could only see it really working if they are consistently patching in new enviornments, textures and wildlife. Because otherwise at some point you'll see everything there is too see, and even though the universe is infinite, it will just be rearrangments of the same stuff.

Thought this had a thread or something.

Anyway something I've discussed at Kotaku was the 'non-game' nature of this, which seems a part of the 'interactive experience non-game' thing going around along with Gone Home and the flower breeze thing on Playstation. Can't say I'm a fan but I find its rise very curious.

I assumed it had random generation at work under the hood. Otherwise yeah, that's an insane amount of work and DLC ahead.

Yeah, it's randomly generating, but I assume it's randomly generating on a simple level. Like I doubt it's actually constructing new 3d models for new wildlife by itself. Or creating new textures. A developer has to at least do that much.

If I'm wrong then holy shit this is how skynet takes over.

You wanna kill them, you mean? Because it seems there's interactions in any case. You do meet people and you do see and scare animals. What other interactions would you like to see?

Fuck "non-game", and all the other silly little phrases the gaming community makes up.

Also think it is silly to place labels on a game we know very VERY little about at this point. Just because the universe itself is infinite doesn't mean that there is no endgame or objectives.

Actually I say that because there is literally no endgame or objectives revealed as of now. So I would call that a non-game, like Gone Home. Not knocking it, just calling it how I see it. It's an interactive experience and that's fine. No need for fury.

I seen it. You have random encounters against aliens. You can 'die' if you don't fight back, I suppose. Their involvement isn't fully revealed.

I seen every vid there is to see.

And with the story culminating, but not ending, at the center of the universe, still fail how this is a "non game". It is more of a game than the Walking Dead or Wolf Among Us interactive stories.

Not pointless. And no other entertainment genre would play that loose with terms. Like looking at a motion painting that changes scenes every minute and saying, "it's still a movie". That wouldn't fly.
