One thing that really annoys me about John Cena...
His attire. I mean, the shoes he wears, the shorts, they just don't scream "wrestler." If John Cena was still wearing his bi-coloured trunks, I'd probably like him a lot more. I don't mind it when wrestlers bust out the unusual attire to set themselves appart (Paul London & Brian Kendrick), but for the most part, I think a wrestler should wear wrestling attire.
John Cena wears shorts like he's embarrassed to be a wrestler. I guess that's all well and good, apart from the bit about him supposedly being the best wrestler in the company. I know tights might not be the coolest thing around, and I can understand why some wrestlers separate themselves by going baggy, but come on, when you're wrestling Randy Orton in his skimpy trunks, it's not like you've got anything to lose. John Cena just seems to do it in a condescending way, too. I guess it's because I saw him on Conan O'Brien and they discussed it, and he said that the man fighting in tights business isn't his thing. I guess Cena might have just been trying to be funny, but come on, if you're a wrestler, you shouldn't be ashamed of the wrestling industry. It's probably not as big a deal as I'm making it out to be, but honestly, I associate John Cena's wrestling skill with his trunk-wearing days. The shorts fit him when he was all ADD and rapper, but he's grown past that now. He doesn't need to be "different" now that he's meant to be the top guy, and he doesn't even do the rapper shit anymore. John Cena just looks like a fool when he's out there wrestling in shorts that look like they're for a pre-teen boy and shoes made for a night at the movies with girls he wants but can't have. Honestly, put conventional attire and boots on the man, and he might seem less awful. Pfft |
