What make/model laptops are you looking at?
That's normally my thought also, however in the case I'm not sure.

I'm looking at 2 Toshiba's.

I'll just list the diffrences.

S105-S1133 vs. M55-S3293 ($200.00 less)

Speed: 1.73GHz 1.86Ghz

Display: (1024 x 768) (1280x768)

Screen Size: 14.1" 14"

Ram: 512MB 1GB

Type of Ram: PC4200 DDR2 SoDIMM v. DDR SDRAM

HD Type: Serial ATA 5400rpm EIDE ATA-6 (5400 rpm)

DVD-ROM/CD-RW Double-layer DVD±RW/CD-RW

Vcard: NVIDIA GeForce Go 6200 TE V.

Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 900

Video Memory: 64MB DDR SDRAM (dedicated) V. Up to 128MB (shared)

10Base-T/100Base-TX/1000Base-T Gigabit Ethernet LAN V. 10/100Base-TX Ethernet LAN

S-video: None 1
AD1981B integrated software sound V. Realtek ALC250 16-bit stereo

Speakers: Built-in stereo V. Built-in Harman/Kardon stereo

USB 2.0: 2 ports V. 4 ports

and the more expesnive one is about 1# lighter, the demensions are about the same (one is 1" wider the other is 1" longer).

So, it seems to me, except the memory type and the video memory type, the lesser expensive one seems to be a better laptop.

Faster, more USB's, more memory, better speakers, better video card...

dunno, am I missing something on why one it's $200.00 less?
