8 runs in 1.1 IP
Solid outing by Beckett I didn't think Giambi could be possibly be even more of any worse (taking steriods then crying (literally) about it afterwards) but coming out to the Wolfpac theme for your whole career is probably the gayest thing I have ever seen. |

Apparently one of the projected top picks in this year's draft is a 3B named Evan Longoria. ![]() |

Ballparks, stadiums generally have an administration office. Through there, they hire people for these types of things. Check online or ask someone at the ballpark. Heck, even ask the vendor that serves you next time how he got a job there.

Shawn Green just made a great defensive play.
I guess that makes up for his 900 not so great defensive plays. |

So apparently the Brewers were maybe looking for some pitching help in the form of Kyle Lohse but Terry Ryan wouldn't budge for anything but Bill Hall. In a way, I like that because I get the impression that something good will come of Lohse, I don't want to do one of those Doug Mientkiewicz trades again.

With the 149th overall pick the Chicago Cubs select Jeff Samardzija, right-handed pitcher from Notre Dame. Ha

It looks like Scherzer is going to be a reliever for Arizona. I'd imagine he'll be good, he was absolutely lights out these last two years. Anybody paying attention to the college world series?

I am not very smart in terms of college baseball, but I finally figured out how the tournament works. It was disappointing that Mizzou wasn't very good this year because we were preseason top 10 in one publication and beat No. 2 Florida right off the bat, but now things are really coming together. We swept Texas to end the regular season, dominated OU and OSU in the Big 12 Tournament and now just won three straight elimination games to be the first ever No. 4 seed to make the super regionals. I really think that Max Scherzer and Nate Culp couldget us to the CWS, which would be amazing, but Cal State Fullerton is damn good.
Anyway, college baseball is cool, but it is really hard to be very knowledgeable about it because it gets such little publicity and some of the best teams are from kind of random schools. Nonetheless, we have a pretty cool stadium at Mizzou and the games are fun to go to, it's just quality baseball when you're in a college town. |

Yeah, the only reason I know anything at all about it is because I live in a college town. Washington wasn't bad this year but the Pac-10 was really strong as usual. Tim Lincecum is a beast, watch for him on the Giants in a few years.

Do you know anything about Max Scherzer? He was Big 12 Pitcher of the Year and a bunch of other stuff last year, was in a who's who of baseball earlier this year in Sports Illustrated as the possible first overall pick, but then some injuries dropped him to 11. The only reason I ask is because I always figured he would be a starter, but the MLB.com scouting report said he might make the majors as a short inning reliever.

Also, I've been reading about how this draft was regarded as weak, but the 2000 one was considered the weakest. Are there any big names that came out of there?

Chase Utley, Grady Sizemore, Dontrelle Willis, Brandon Webb, Rocco Baldelli, Adrian Gonzalez, Boof Bonser, Aaron Heilman, Xavier Nady, Nook Logan, Chris Young, David Dejesus, Cliff Lee, Yadier Molina, Bobby Jenks, Edwin Encarnacion, Clint Barmes, Brad Hawpe, Ryan Church Not all big names or anything, just posted guys that have amounted to something. |

The drafts are going to be a lot better now that teams have figured out taking 30 high school pitchers is stupid
