Also, would it make sense to try to move A-Rod to first base? I wouldn't call him awful in the field, but it seems like he wouldn't have as much trouble at first.

Wow, pretty weak lineup tonight for the Yanks.
Damon CF Cairo 2B Jeter SS Giambi DH Williams RF Phillips 1B Cabrera LF Green 3B Stinnett C With Sir Sidney pitching this will more than likely not be good news. |

ARod's a good 3rd basemen. As far as I'm concerned he's unfairly treated by alot of Yankee fans and media.

I do agree, but they said today that he has more errors than any other third baseman this year, so that is something to consider, especially if they are throwing errors.

Arod's pressing. Both on offense and on defense. I don't know. He's a great talent, but because he makes so much cash, people are holding that against him because he isn't hitting a HR every at bat. That's the sense of it, as I see it.

Yeah, A-Rod does get a lot of flack from fans and the media. I go to a couple Yankees forums and they will pick something wrong he does out of every game and it does get tiresome. At the same time he is pressing too hard and thinking too much about everything, all his problems are mental. He has something like 16 errors I think right now, he just has to relax and play the game.
It is ridiculous when I hear other Yankees fans saying we should trade A-Rod though, a lot of people take him for granted here. It seems like the people that don't appreciate him in NY are few and far between and that is pretty sad. I appreciate all he's done for our team and stuff but it seems other fans don't. But hey, we could always have Aaron Boone and his 1 clutch hit off the Sox lol. |

BTW, Ponson impressed me tonight against the Mariners. He had a shaky first inning giving up a 3 run shot to Sexson but after that he settled down nicely and only gave up 1 more run. His line for the night was -
6 2/3 innings, 5 hits, 3 BB, 5 K's, 4 ER Obviously not phenomenal but much better than I expected. But he did start off good for the Cards too but then struggled so we'll see how the next start goes with him. |

Godddddd, Yankees game, mad dramatic. Tied it up 4-4 in the 9th during a fucking thunderstorm. A-Rod at the plate with 2 outs and a runner on second with a 3-1 count, and they call for the tarp.

Also, something I noticed is that all Red Sox games are blacked out here for some reason. Every time there is a Boston game (in Boston I think), they don't air it. Doesn't make any sense since it isn't airing on any other channel.

I know they can't show out of market games, so IE they can't show every Yankees game in Boston area/they can't show every Red Sox game in the New York area. If they did that they'd have to cut a percentage to MLB, like what happens when a game is on ESPN or whatever (anything televised outside of the "home markets" is like that) So I am pretty sure The Braves have to pay MLB money because all of their games are nationally televised on TBS. I'm not totally sure what they do with grey areas like the western part of Connecticut, I don't even think they show Red Sox games there. Just Yankees, but I am not positive. But good showing by Lester tonight, 8 IP with only 1 hit. Granted it was the Royals, still good to see. I'd like to see some more runs againest KC though, only got one run ![]() Oh yeah, about the Ortiz for MVP debate, if he played a below average 1st base (like he probably would if he wasn't a DH) would you think he'd be more of a MVP canidate? |

Got lucky with that call on Posada at first. You would have figured they would have let A-Rod finish his at bat though before putting the tarp on.

In western CT we get the YES Network, and could get NESN in some parts of this area. Don't have it though.
What do you mean by all Red Sox games are blacked out? Like I noticed something on the free MLB Extra Innings thing yesterday, all the games played except the Sox and Yankees so I'm guessing they just play it on the market stations? (NESN/YES) |

Pretty happy with Ponson tonight. If he pitched like he did tonight for the remainder of the season I'd be pretty happy. He pitched into the 7th and didn't get crapped on. That's all we need out of our number 5. Of course I doubt he'll keep it up but who knows, he's low risk. If he starts to suck we'll just throw Chacon out there again, hopefully he'll come around.
I can't believe they called for the tarp on a 3-1 count. It was raining really hard though, and after they called it they showed this picture of the upper deck getting struck by lightning. Could have had something to do with it. A-Rod needs to chill. Even if he's pressing he's still having a pretty good season, offensively anyway. Without Sheffield and Matsui he feels he's gotta carry the team offensively but we still have plenty of offense. It's going to be a really exciting second half in the AL. I feel like it's going to come down to the final week. It's a great season to be a baseball fan, a lot more competitive than past seasons and there's a shitload of great young players to watch. |

Melky
![]() Like FakeRazor and Dragon i'm pretty happy with Ponson's performance, it was the walks that let him down, but he kept us in the game and went 6 2/3, thats far more than we've generally gotten from the 5th spot this year ![]() |

Outside of that hanging curve that Sexson hit out of the park he pitched a pretty damn good game.

I always remember he used to generally pitch pretty well against us despite whatever kind of disastrous season he'd be having so maybe he's got a thing for the pinstripes

Yeah, Maddog vs. Rocket is a pretty hot matchup. I pick Maddux, just because I can.
The Braves are freaking ridiculous right now. I don't think they can keep the production up obviously, but I do think they can keep winning and actually make the division interesting. |

Tony Gwynn Jr. got his first major league hit (double) today, 24 years to the day that his dad got his first career hit (also a double).
Good to be a Gwynn today. |

Damn, props to Trachsel for coming back out after a 2 hour rain delay. He lasted a couple more innings but then fell apart, so Darren Oliver got to be the man and save the day
![]() It's remarkable what Oliver and Valentin have done this year, great stories. Both guys were considering hanging them up this off-season after terrible years and each have thus far turned in a great season. ------- EDIT As soon as I say that, Oliver's next pitch is knocked out of the park by Rich Aurilia to tie the game ![]() Last edited by Evil Vito; 07-19-2006 at 11:11 PM. |
