Rules you could do without

NFL: Two feet inbounds. I like the CFL's concept of one foot in.
CFL: The rouge (spl?). If you don't know what that is and are a football fan you will laugh at us Canadians
NHL: The Shootout and the Instigator.
NBA: The sissyness of it

The new clock rule in NCAA Football

The challenge system in the NFL, I'd make it so every play is reviewed like it is in college. Why should a team only be allowed to challenge two fucks up by the refs? I guess that is more of a change than "doing without" tho, but whatever

what's the new clock rule?

I could also go without such a long snap clock in the NFL.

I like the two-foot in rule in the NFL. Players in the NFL are a whole hell of a lot better than in the CFL or in the NCAA, and this is one of the things that they do. It certainly isn't a problem, I don't think, where there are tonns of missed opportunities because of it.

As for the NCAA clock rules, I really don't see why people are getting so up in arms about it. Especially when a game is on TV, it takes WAY too long. Even though you miss out on maybe a drive per team because of it, I don't think it is that bad. I could go either way though.

Ricky Williams isn't in the NFL..

I wish you could review/challenge Pass Interference in the NFL.. It's one of the only things you can't review, but it's the only penalty that can cost you the ENTIRE field..

Urban Meyer said it best "We spend all this time talking about football, but keep trying to find ways to shorten playing football"

If you look at it, the games really aren't getting that much shorter. The new clock rules take a lot of drama away from the end of games as well. What would you rather see..a game that is 5 minutes shorter or a game that comes down to the wire?

MLB
--I love the designated hitter and I think it should be a League Wide rule. However, knowing how basebell "purists" think that the DH isn't "real" baseball, that'll never happen. So I think MLB should make up their damn mind and make the DH universal or non-existant, not both.
--None of this warning bullshit when it comes to beanballs. It should go back to the day were players policed themselves with beaning others. Maybe then people like Ortiz and Bonds can't crowd the plate without reprecussions.

NBA
--Eliminate the hand checking rule, it's a bull shit rule that was mad to fuck over the Knicks in the 90's. Now that the Knicks suck, the conspiricey is over so should the rule be.
--When Shaq throws elbows at his opponents CALL THE FOUL! And then go back retroactively and call all the fouls the missed in the past and change the scores accordingly, it's be nice to wipe clean all those Laker Championships, when Shaq was basically mugging people in the paint. Obviously I'm just kidding, but I just hate Shaq, on the court. Off the court the guy is a riot.

NFL
--Thier should be no breaking the plane nonsence in the NFL. You either get a piece of your body physically touching the End Zone or you get the football touch the End Zone. I'm tired of seeing people dive out of bounds and the football crosses the magical forcefield that surrounds the End Zone.

NHL
--Make the rink bigger like in the olympics
--It's not really a rule change, but something that should be done to give the real hockey fan hockey. Eliminate the following teams and give them to Canada, Carolina, Dallas, Florida, Phoenix, Tampa Bay, and San Jose. If you can't make real ice in the place where you play your games, you probably don't care about hockey.

The new cxlock rules in college football. When the clock starta on a change of possesion drives me nuts. If they wanna speed up the game they should do like the NFL and not stop the clock on a first down.

I was half joking by saying you should give those teams back to Canada, but a hockey team in Dallas? Do you think some yokel is a cowboy hat care about anything other then high school football? Let alone a sport that isn't even possible in their city naturally.

The reason why the Canadian teams had to leave canada is because the cities were too small and they didn't have a big enough fan base, which is true, but it also had to do with the weakening of the Canadian dollar, which is now closer to the US dollar then ever. Owners were losing money because of the exchange rate.

I just think it's bull shit that the country where Canada is most popular, and where the sport was invented has only six teams. Realistically, I'd say give Canada back another team. But then again I'm not a big fan of hockey so what do I know.

That would kill hockey. If you think they lack hitting now, Olympic sized ice equals pond hockey.

The reason Olympic hockey is the best sport ever is because the best of the best are playing. You get a shitty team like Florida playing on large ice, my god, it would be terrible.

NFL - No padding or time-outs. Also, give them 5 chances to get the ball to the end of the field like in Rugby, not 5 chances to move the ball 10 yards.

Baseball - Get rid of the gloves

NBA - No black people allowed to play. This will make the game more even for everybody else, and closer lower scoring games.

Soccer - Get rid of the offside rule.

If you make baseball players get rid of their gloves, then batsmen in cricket should also get rid of their leg and thigh guards, as well as their helmets

I am intrigued by the no pads in football rule. That would actually be really interesting and probably make the game a lot better.

I also find the NBA and NFL has too many time outs.

Why would they get rid of pads? You can destory people when you wear them. It's not like it doesn't hurt when you get hit. Ask Chris Simms

Wanna know what would make basketball a hell of a lot better? No players over 6-6. The NBA has been ruined by players who have no talent, just size.

The new clock rules in the NCAA suck. I agree that they should do it like the NFL where the clock keeps running on a first down. But that is the NCAA for you. They always want to do things differently and be difficult about it.

Also, the ranking system in NCAA football. For one thing, just go on wins and losses, and don't dare the kids to go out and fuck up their opponents 70-3 "or else". That is kind of an oxymoron when you tell a team that not only do you have to beat a certain team to get a top rank, but you have to cover a ridiculous spread that you would need to have Superman to cover. And have an actual fucking TOURNAMENT. How hard is that for the NCAA to actually comprehend?

NASCAR, I would like for them to quit penelizing points from drivers for using profanity on TV. OK, the fines and the monetary punishments, maybe a suspension, I could get. But to deduct 25 points for a mess up? C'mon! You made your point with hurting his wallet. Don't ruin his chance to win a cup because of a slip of the tongue (or whatever else he did).

NBA: The dress code thing. Who in the fuck CARES how players dress when they are NOT playing?

The NBA has a terrible reputation. The players come across as gangstas. That's why they have the dress code.

NCAA Football definetly knows how to make a workable football tournament (That's how D1AA is) but you are talking about a big loss of $$ so it'll never happen with D1

Get rid of the 'mark' rule in Rugby (similar to a fair catch in Football). I love speeding up towards a full back at 100 miles an hour and absolutely flattening him.

Technically, how would having an eight team tournament bring in less money than having four bowl games? The tournament would have seven games. I think it has a lot to do with extending the season as well. It would be hard to make it perfect, and I don't really think it would be cool to tinker around with shit just for the sake of doing it. The best way, IMO, to do it would be to have a tournament with all of the D-1 Conference Champions, Big Ten, Big 12, ACC, Pac-10, SEC, Big East, Mountain West, MAC, WAC, Sun Belt and C-USA. That gives you room for five wildcard teams.

So honestly, with the BCS conference champions and five wildcards, you would be basically guaranteed to get all of the top 10 teams in a given year, and then adding in the smaller conferences would make them a lot more significant, rather than "We only play because the big conferences pay us to lose." Of course the Sun Belt team would lose every year, but it is fair at least. The problem with that is that it would extend the season another month. Technically it could work if you played all through December, but meh.

The sponsor aren't going to pay as much money if there is tournament.

Even if they rotate the championship game like they do now (like say one year the Fiesta Bowl is the champ game, and the Rose bowl and Orangebowl are the semis or something) sponsors are not going to be willing to spend as much as they do now with the current BCS. There is currently 31 bowl games, so teams make a lot of money from going to the lesser known bowls like the Las Vegas Bowl. With a tournament those smaller bowls would probably be eliminated, plus teams that advance further in the tournament would be making a lot of money since they'd be getting hit with a bonus every game if every round was still given the "bowl" name. Obviously they could change the structure of how the money works and all that but it is never going to happen.

Imagine how bad it used to be, the #1 and #2 didn't even used to play each other. You just played in whatever bowl your conference was affliated with and they just picked the National Champion that way.
