1. Was in an abusive and dangerous relationship (Her boyfriend used her and abused her to try and create a mutant drug called MGH)
2. powers were gained mystically (She got her powers though the Gathering of The Five
3. Not the first person to use his/her hero monicker (She is the third Spider-Woman)
4. Also once briefly filled in for a well known hero (She filled in for Spider-Man when he retired one of those mnay times)
5. Was adopted by an important and long standing character in the Spider-Man Books. (Mattie was adopted by J. Jonah Jameson)
