I'm worried about this Trump/Vince thing (Spoilers)
Well, Vince chose Umaga as his representative.This much we know. And if you believe the rumors, Trump is going to choose Lashley as his.

My concern runs deeper than the obvious this match is going to be terrible concern. I woke up this morning to see a Trump/Vince related headline on yahoo, typically where the sports headline would be. Not to mention a few other places where I saw or heard it. The fact that similar to K-Fed's short stint, this is getting significant play with the press is what worries me.

We know the product is garbage, and to a degree I think Vince knows the product is garbage. But the fact that this is getting a good amount of publicity may give Vince the wrong idea. Bringing in celebrities is just a temporary deal, and will only provide the obvious short term spike in ratings so people can see what the fuss is about. Its just a short term fix on a long term bigger problem. And that's what worries me, that Vince in his senility is going to believe that this is what the product needs, things that give the product mainstream exposure. Problem is, we've seen this towards the end of WCW. Where casual fans would tune in for maybe a week, while the hardcore audience was alienated.

We all believe that wrestling is in a sorry state right now. Some of us believe that it can't get much worse, but I fear that we may be on the cusp of finding the trap door that leads to something even worse.

I also think we all know the outcome here, my memory may betray me, but celebrities don't lose at Wrestlemania. So I fully expect Vince to cop out saying it was an April Fool's Day gimmick.

You know, I'm all for bringing in celebs when the product is good... strike while the iron is hot, bring in some new fans. But when the product is bland (I'm not going to say it "sucks", just that it is bland) there is no point looking for the publicity because it will only expose MORE people to the fact that WWE are treading water.

When they brought in Tyson, the WWF was a riot at the time, close to being at its very best from an entertainment perspective. Non-fans, intrigued by Tyson's involvement, tuned in and got hooked on Austin, McMahon, Foley et al.

Can you really see the Trump-curious tuning in and getting addicted to the exploits of Bobby Lashley? Or wondering what's going to happen next week with Finlay? Or what will the next twist in the saga of the Hardyz/MNM feud bring? How about Umaga becoming their favourite wrestler?

That's another point, the eyes of the mainstream world are on WWE right now, and they throw a racially stereotypical 1970s gimmick into the spotlight. What a bunch of wallies.

I've never wanted to not watch a wrestlemania this bad. I MIGHT go to like a sports bar and watch it there, where I can see it free. thats a MAYBE.
