Is the Wii worth a damn?
It just seems to me that all the games they have for it look like little kiddy games.

I f'n love mine.. If you want griphics based realistic "simulators" then go with a PS3 or a 360.. If you love fun "games" it is awesome.. The Wii Sports and Wii Play games are fun to play a parties, drinking with buddies.. Madden is completely different because of the motion play as opposed to push buttons.. Same can be said for Tiger Woods (and prolly any other sports title).. Zelda is f'n sweet and I heard good things about Metriod and Mario.. If you've always been a Nintendo fan you will prolly dig it.. It is fun and hella worth $250..

I mostly love the VC titles, I've got to say. If you like retro gaming or the ideas behind Wii sports, it's worth a damn.
If you don't like either, it's probably not worth your time. Me? I like it, but I think it's kind of sad that Wii Sports is still on of the most popular titles, a pack-in game that's really a series of tech demos. If the "kiddie" aspect bugs you, there are a few less "kiddie" titles, but don't expect a shitload of them. |

I don't know. I just looks like a majority of the titles for Wii are like bowling and tennis and crap. You know real games you should be out playing and getting exerise with insead of sitting around in your mom's basement and playing.

O_o
There's the Sports game which as KK said, is more of a demo of what Wii can do.. There are plenty of games other than that.. |

Down to your preferences I guess
There’s a few more adult games in the pipeline Metroid looks decent No More Heroes will be the Wii’s answer to GTA And then there’s Umbrella Cronicles So there is more adult stuff, but Nintendo has classically always been soft and furry, it works for them, but there’s subtance and decent game play behind the fuzz |

Also, I really feel the Wii has limited title support.
Most of the games will be "kiddie" or just plain suck because of the tacked on motion controls (Most multiplatform games). What you can always find on a Nintendo system are a few gems that make the lower price tag worth your while. Shooters like Red Steel, the new RE game, RE games, period will be less kiddie, but they'll probably be few and far between compared to the Marios and the Kirbies and so on. It simply might not be for you. It's gonna appeal to a lot of people, though. |

The wii is a good concept that needed more time to be developed. Right now its only fun for like 5 minutes unless ur a little kid.
They need to add some mature games that use the wii concept, otherwise, those games are available on the superior PS3 or Xbox 360. |

No..
I had mine for almost a year and I still have fun with it.. And I'm 26 years old.. It all about the gameplay.. As I said earlier, if you're into graphics driven realistic simulator type games, it's not for you.. Personnaly I like gaming type games.. I'll always stick with Nintendo because that's what I grew up on.. All the games have that throwback feel.. |

I'm so glad I like variety. My bros' Wii lets me play lots of classic shits (Donkey Kog Country 2, y'all), all my gamecube shits (Smash Bros Melee mostly) and lots of new shits. So far the number of quality Wii games is pretty low, but the shits we have, I like. A lot.
It's not the total gaming experience, tho, so I'm definitely gonna round out the collection with a 360 pretty soon and maybe a PS3 a few years down the line. |

But then, all my Nintendo consoles are the same. I end up with about five games I love to death and play for years, and then a few more that are "okay." Like the Gamecube with DoR and Skies and the Rogue Squadron series. |

Truthfully I barely play mine, I still play my PS2 a lot (addicted to NCAA Football '08)
It's good for the dorm though, like when we got a bunch of people drinking and shit. Def need to invest in a few more controllers though. Plus I think I gotta pick up a game thats good for one player, I think that's probably why I don't play it as much. Any suggestions? |

I criticised for calling the Wii innovative. That has nothing to do with the quality of the system or the enjoyability. It also has nothing to do with the your ownership of the system. Is Alienoid fucking contagious or something? It's like the collective intellect of these boards suddenly dropped. Plummeted. By the way, PS3s and 360s cost a lot more than the Wii for the same reason GCNs cost less than PS2s. That was a stupid argument to use, too. Nintendo's Hardware always, always, always costs less. Are you done being a moron, or are you going to make up arguments for me and point out the nonexistant irony of things I didn't say? |

Mario's fun as Hell.
I didn't like Zelda, and I dislike Shooter games, but I think almost everyone can agree that Mario's pretty much a must. |

I'd say yes. I love my Wii..... don't play it often, but I still love it. It'll never deliver COD, Bioshock, or even Assassin's Creed type games. It can, and probably will, have some of the most fun games of this generation.... which will probably have a "kiddie" feel. My favorite games of last generation were GTA and Katamari. Katamari probably seemed too kiddie to people over here, but it was soooooo fun. Plus, I'd say it's more cartoony Japanese than kiddie (cartoons being really awesome there).
What the Wii won't deliver, I'll look for in a 360 when I can afford one (and when they stop breaking). Umbrella Chronicles looks pretty nice, and isn't kiddie.... but games like that will be far and few between. |

The Wii (and the last couple of Nintendo systems, really) is really held up by all of Shigeru Miyamoto's franchise games, which is why all of their major titles have that 'kiddie' feel. The guy gives everything that cartoon aesthetic, but they're almost always a hell of a lot of fun to play.
Problem is, most outside developers either can't seem to get the hang of the new control system, or just don't bother and make their games for the 360/PS3 instead. If it's not a 'house' brand like Mario or Zelda, it's usually a crap shoot as to whether the game is going to be any good. Nintendo definitely markets to a niche crowd, but that niche is damn fun. |

Yeah, but there are always also some 3rd party sleeper hit gems on each the systems too. Games that get good reviews in general and are, for the most part, quite good, but slip under most people's radar either from lack of promotion or radically new game design.

I think Nintendo also hamstrings itself by being "kiddie." Not because of the graphics, but because of their tendency to fight or cripple popular features like online. You'd love it if Mosh kiddie hero came out. |

I think it is worth a damn, but there is so much against it that really question it.
I got one over the other two, because really, I trust Nintendo as they usually never fail in the fun department and their exclusives, along with the VC. But the past 2 systems they have stayed behind as far as graphics go, thus limiting them early on. Example: Wii gets anything that looks last gen. And online, which to me doesn't matter, but to others this is also a deal breaker. Also, people really hate the motion control, but who else but Nintendo can do that and still be accepted by enough people? They're changing it around abit, even though it's hard for people to change from a controller style that's been used for over 20 years. In the end, it's all about fun. It probably won't have the lifespan of the other new gen consoles, but it's a great ride while it lasts. It's number one in its first year when others expected it to fail right out of the gate. So yea, even if I sound like a pure Big N fanboy, it's safe to say it's worth a damn at least in this moment. |

Nintendo has me purchasing the Wii the moment they announced the Virtual Console. A chance to play Donkey Kong Country 2 again? That's worth shelling down the money right there.
The name really should have stayed "Nintendo Revolution," and Nintendo's image is still pretty kiddie, but the games are generally pretty solid (the ones that are packed into the system). Super Mario Galaxy is also reportedly one of the best platformers ever made. So if you've ever popped in a Mario game, it is worth picking up that title. |

I don't have it yet, but I played a demo at Wal-Mart the other day. All I have to say is, holy crap!! Awesome from the bit I was able to play. To everyone that thinks the Wii isn't worth a damn...I really think it depends on what you like in games. Action games, for the moment, prevail on Xbox/360/PS3/PS2, etc. I bought a Wii back a few months after it was released and still don't own any actual Wii games, save for Wii Sports. This is due mainly to lack of time to commit to play right now and the annoyance of having to pay bills. I have a ton of gamecube games that I play on it, though. I love the interactivity of the system, the Picture Editor, the PC programs that allow you to convert Youtube Video over for play on Wii via the SD card, the built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, etc. Apparently, there's a firmware update to allow playing of .aac files, rather than just set an MP3 to play during a picture slideshow. Admittedly, some of the Wii games I have seen seem kinda 'kiddish', but the immersive play-style is what puts it over the top, IMO. |
