Wow @ The D'Backs. Makes me happy, for I am a real O DOG fan. Wonder what the deal is going to be with Chris Burke? This guy needs to get a stasrting role somewhere, I don't see it being Arizona with them having the afformentioned Orlando Hudson. Maybe he'll be a bench guy (too bad for him) or maybe they'll try him at SS?

I've read that Oakland would either only trade Blanton or if they traded Haren, then they'd trade both he and Blanton. If those reports are true, you can expect Blanton to be moved ASAP.
WTF is Oakland doing? Seems like a poor decision considering they were and maybe still are consideing bringing in Bonds. They had control of Haren for a couple more years yet I thought... OMG BEAN IS A GENIUS!!1

Barring Santana (and more than likely Bedard)...I'd love Blanton as a solid #2.....certainly better than just slapping together a rotation with Livan Hernandez and Bartolo Colon.

After getting 6 people for Haren, I wonder what Beane's expectations are for Blanton.

Goo old Money Ball Beane sucks.

I think he just decided that there as no ay they were competing even with those two, so might so might as well turn those 2 into 10. WOuld have been great had they gotten Prospects worth it.

Some of the D'Backs top prospects sure, but where do they rank according to all the propects? From what I understand, not 'that' high.

So, Santanas agent has said whoever gets him has to give him 7yrs 140mil.

20mil/yr for a pitcher... who'se 29? (i think).

They're talking with NYY again, but I heard something that they want them to take Matsui and his contract in the deal?

Yeah, 7 years 140 million is the minimum now.

To be honest I'd still do it. 4 or so potentially brilliant years of Johan is worth 3 mediocre, broken down ones.

Let me dig up and old Column, it tanked the 100 best Prospects in baseball, and none of these were in he top 25 I remember that. They have a poor farm system.

I think its more like the Yankees wanting to trade Matsui and get rid of his contract (I'm guessing not to Minnesota) to another team before thinking of taking on a monster contract for Santana. I don't know if I see a deal getting done with Minnesota still. I'd be pretty pissed if they caved in and gave Melky, Hughes AND Kennedy.

Want to know why the D backs Farm system is poor?

beause they have so many great young players on their team.

The Farm clubs are bare because they have to field their team. Im not downing them, its just that all their top prospects are already in the majors.

Some news and rumors.

Dodgers win the Hiroki Kuroda sweepstakes. 3-years $35.3 mil. According to some experts out there, he was pretty much the only big free agent pitcher that had good talent out of everybody. Everyone else either you gotta trade for your soul(s) for, or find someone that is fairly decent.

Since D-Backs aquired Chris Burke, Tony Clark is looking for a team. But first basemen seem to the the flavor of the month. His options are running out.

There was a big deal in the works involving Jason Bay going to the Indians. But the Pirates pulled out. Details are sketchy at the moment.

A total of ten teams are confirmed to watch Kris Benson tomorrow. Teams already confirmed to be there are the Yankees, Cardinals, Royals, Marlins, Rockies, Dodgers, and Phillies. The other three are unknown at this time.

I'd really like to see the Yankees take a gamble on Mark Prior. Kris Benson is someone they definitely should not take a gamble on.

I dunno, I wouldn't really call Silva a shitty pitcher per se.....but he's definitely one of those guys that would be much better off in the NL (hence why I wouldn't mind if the Mets signed him)
