Not completely. I mean, someone who is versed in multiple martial arts will do better than someone versed in only one. Boxing, Aikido, Kung Fu, all play to different strengths. By learning to adapt to different techniques, you can be versatile. Of course, what it ends up with in MMA is a ton of guys who fight in a similar style with minimal differences.

Granted, it's mostly hype, but this shit has a strong philisophical base.
