Honestly, SmackDown! was pretty great this week
The opening segment needed not mention Eddie Guerrero. I would prefer Edge/Mysterio to be based more on their past as a tag team, which I guess the WWE has forgotten, but I like Chavo being involved in major storylines. Chavo is massively underrated. He's solid on the mic, and he's a great in-ring talent.
Rey vs. Chavo was actually quite sloppy, with two major missed spots, and Chavo got pretty frustrated with himself, I believe, but still an exciting match, as can be expected anytime Chavo and Rey work together. Chavo also seems to bust out the nice tights while working with Rey. The white in the I Quit Match, and the yellow against him tonight. I am not a part of the Edge blowing squad, but he was damn good on commentary tonight. He made me laugh, and he put over Rey well. I strongly advise KK to watch the Rey/Chavo match. A recent bright spot Edge has been involved in. MVP is damn entertaining, and his match with Batista was surprisingly good. I think they should have gone the other route, and have MVP kick Batista off the apron, and win via fluke countout. Cole and Coach could have pointed out that if MVP wins like that at the Rumble, Flair is done. MVP is in Kennedy's position last year, in my opinion. A lot of momentum on his side. And that pimping wizard is a fucking sick spot. The Chuck Palumbo/Michelle McCool/Jamie Noble shit is awesome. The fans are actually reacting to a mid-card program because it is well written and has developments. Would you believe it? A very effective double-turn is taking place here. Michael Hayes is earning his money, and Jamie Noble deserves to have his two paychecks. The Hornswoggle stuff is still fucking stupid, but it involving Finlay is a very good thing. There was some development, and I'm not too sure what it means, and I don't care enough to speculate. Finlay looks like a star when he's putting Vince in his place, though. When Vince finally gets knotted with the shillelagh, I will officially mark out. Pfft |

I really only caught the Noble part. I loled at Michael Cole's "fact" that nobody had every beaten Chuck Palumbo FOUR TIMES IN A ROW. But yeah, I'm glad Palumbo is turning heel instead of just being another gimmick face who we're just supposed to like (assuming we forget he used to bang Billy Gunn).

Yes that was a Lex Luger cheap shot, and I'm sticking with it. |

I've definitely been interested in the Palumbo/Michelle/Noble storyline and think it's one of the better storylines going on now. Both guys are gettting alot of tv time now and more character development. And I do think it's better that this whole heel turning by Chuck and face turn for Noble isn't rushed.

I ROFL'd when Taker buried Mark Henry and VisceraDaddyV in the same segment. Pretty hilarious. And the Raw Rewind with the Hardy/Umaga cage match was extremely well put together and made me wish I had seen the match, which is rare these days.

I can't figure out why they aren't doing Taker/Kane vs Henry/V.

My dad has now gotten back into Smackdown! for once...he used to call me and ask me what was going on this friday...and then he'd just be like "meh..who won or whatever"
Now he actually called me...and told me that was one of the best shows he's seen in awhile. |

I was completely prepared for Kane to make the save during the Henry/V beatdown. My logic was "well, Kane isn't really doing anything right now, so it might happen."
But no, Taker squashed both guys, and Kane goes on to face either Deuce or Domino (can't remember which and don't know the difference) in a match that sees Kane nearly get upperhanded by a wannabe Fonz.

The tension between Kane and Taker being the Rumble match would get marks more interested, and it helps protect Henry/V by it looking like Taker needs at least some help against them. Fuck, it even helps Deuce N' Domino, because you could have gone from Kane vs. Domino (it was Domino, and it seems you are not alone in not being able to tell them apart, as nearly every spoilers report gets them mixed) to Taker & Kane vs. D&D. No brainer who'd go over there, but a strong showing by Deuce N' Domino would make them look less ridiculously. Slightly. I actually had the thought that I want to see Kane cut a promo after losing a match where he says that he's lost his spark, his passion...his fire; and then proceeds to purposely re-burn his face, and show up next week wearing a mask and new attire. Eventually he can lose it again, but just for a little nostalgia to re-establish the fans' interest in him. |
