Nothing much in the baseball world happening today except for the Bedard trade being final.

However. The A's are finalizing a deal to bring back Keith Foulke for a 1-year deal with incentives.

Jesus! If the Reds did this, the entire front office should be shot. No way do you give 2 of your top prospects for a guy like Blanton. I mean I'm a big Blanton fan, but you cant crumble to Billy Beane trying to rape you of all your farm talent.

Blanton is a number 2....Votto and Bailey are Potential All Stars.

I wouldnt give either, let alone both.

If they can land blanton, they become a serious division contender.

Unsure whether he'll pitch in '08, Pavano plays catch

TAMPA, Fla. -- Oft-injured pitcher Carl Pavano arrived at the New York Yankees' minor-league complex Friday and played catch for 12 minutes.

A $39.95 million bust since signing with the Yankees as a free agent before the 2005 season, Pavano had rotator cuff surgery last June 5. It's not known whether he will pitch in 2008, the final season of his four-year contract.

Yankees vice president Billy Connors and pitching coach Dave Eiland watched Pavano's throwing session, which was broken into two segments. The right-hander's throwing distance reached around 90 feet.

Eiland plans to meet with Pavano and Yankees head trainer Gene Monahan on Monday to discuss the pitcher's rehab program.

"He feels great," Eiland said. "The ball came out of his hand well."

Pavano, who threw in a restricted area, did not stop to talk with reporters.

Hampered by shoulder, back, elbow and rib injuries, Pavano went 5-6 in 19 starts with the Yankees, including 1-0 with a 4.76 ERA in two starts last year.



Also, Keith Foulke officially signed with the A's for $700k with $2.5 million in incentives. An interesting note. Back in January, 20 teams watched him work out. The D-Backs made him an offer, but Oakland upped the ante.

That should make Yankee fans happy, not pissed off. If Pavano can come back and pitch effectively, it'll add depth to the team. They gotta pay him anyway, so might as well hope for the best. LOL, watch him have like a 16+ win season and resign with the Yankees for huge cash and then re injure himself. If that happened, then the Yankee fans can be pissed.

Oakland got squat when they traded Harang to the Reds so it'd make sense they'd have heavier demands this time. Still though when a team's fan base gets told that their team sucked so they could build up a farm system and then you get rid of two of the top prospects in all of baseball, it'd get ugly. I know I'd smash a few windows.

I think he's been telling the truth the entire time. What's the guy gotta hide? But with this new stuff injecting Mrs. Clemens with HGH might just be a little bit over the top. Not crazy, just a tad bit too much info the public should know about.

Why would McNamee claim "crazy" or whatever? I mean, Clemens can't really sue him for anything, other than presenting information he KNEW was false...which is kinda a tough sell. Even if he does that, Clemens has to prove that what McNamee did caused damage to image, which I don't think it did. Consider the Texas High School baseball association or whatever had him come talk to high school baseball coaches.

McNamee is getting bad advice. He's getting a 'lil bit like Tom Cruise rite now with these stories. I think they hurt him in the public eye. Up till now I'd say people tended to be believing him, but now he's starting to sound a little bit cooky

McNamee is started to sound a tad bit loco, but I mean your right in saying what the hell does this guy have to hide. I just wish this shit would end, I'm tired of seeing it on all sports sites and ESPN...so annoying.

McNamee is just a normal guy, and he has been thrust into a crazy situation. I imagine the stress is gettingto him, but I still believe him 100 percent. If Roger is found guilty, he still has hundreds of millions. McNamee has nothing. He has to do whatever it takes to get his truth out there.

No idea really, maybe they couldn't decide on the money or something and both agreed to go with the one year deal (since the money thing will need to be addressed again next off season.) Youk had a great year but kinda tailed off towards the end of the season, still though I would like to see them lock him up for the long term.
