From a marketing point of view, Blu-Ray is way morfe marketable. It rolls of the tongue, and sounds "cool". HD-DVD just didn't have the same sizzle. People quite honestly were confused by it, some thought it was Hard Drive DVD, and wanted to know why they had to pay all that money for a HD Recorder.
