I think Steve Mazzagati needs to let a few things go in fights. The two decisions he called here wouldn't have been debatable if it went another 3 seconds. Instead you have the Karo and Houston crying and bitching for the next 3 months.

i think that was stupid anyway.... he was elbowing the top of his head and lauzon started to turn away. Plus the rule is only there because they dont want you to hit the brain stem which is no where near where florian was elbowing him.

Irvin was ready to go and surprised him. If Alexander hadn't jabbed with his left first he would have been guarded. Alexander wasn't blocking anything when he got knocked down and could have suffered more damage and the right decision was called but I'd like to see a rematch.

It's a fine line between not wanting people to bitch about an early stoppage and a fighter getting brain damage from taking undefended blows to the head..

Specially when their head is slamming the floor with each strike and has no where to go..

yea but theyre still not considered as big as the ufc. if it happened even in elite xc it could be spun to say that they are a lesser organization with inferior safety regulations blah blah... If it happens in the ufc, then there is no excuse

They won't be called a lesser organization now they have network TV. Any major issue that they had would hit UFC too now. It would be bigger on a UFC show mind you so I agree there but they share the same safety regulations so that wouldn't be any excuse.

Sylvia would represent the Russian's first ranked opponent since his unanimous decision over Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic nearly three years ago.

Widely regarded as the top heavyweight fighter in the world, Emelianenko (27-1-0, 1 NC) was recently freed from a letter of intent binding him to the now-defunct M-1 Global promotion.

Sylvia, 32, is coming off a submission loss to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (Pictures) in February at UFC 81. After a spirited performance that saw him batter his foe at will with strikes, Sylvia (24-4-0) eventually fell victim to a classic Nogueira come-from-behind performance and succumbed to a guillotine choke early in the third round.

Tim Sylvia will probably get more money then he is worth. Even if he is does get murdered it still be a good move for him.

Sylvia is actually a good fighter. Mind you I don't really watch him, but hes a tough matchup for everyone. I don't think this will be an impressive victory Fedor. I could see this being a terribly boring fight, and hurting Fedor's exposure to the American auidence.
