I need help with a movie title
The movie came out in the 80's, about 1985 or 1986, and it is about a boy genius that builds a robot, or gets one for his birthday, or finds one. Either way he has a robot now. Anyway the government wants this robot that this boy has, but he does not want to let it go.

I believe I just described every movie that came out in the 1980's, come to think of it.

You were actually really close. The movie I was thinking about was D.A.R.Y.L. though.
