I didnt grow up around here, so I could give less then two shits about him, I moved up here, and its fucking crazy how much this place worships him, the sports section of the paper has his name in bold anytime it appears, I think I remember seeing a photo of him and a Dallas player, and something about how last time Dallas played the Pens they did this or that so it should not be a problem against the Sharks, they shove him in your face like he is some kind of saint, when in reality he is a 20 year old who can play hockey really well.


sure he is good player, I am not denying that, but just because he is a good player I have to like him? I dont see legions of people licking the shit off the bottom of Gretzkys feet.

tbh I think Pittsburgh can match Detroit's depth. They've had some pretty good secondary scoring, and they're actually playing sound defensively this year for a change. It'll be a great series though if the cards end up falling that way.

You're really quite ignorant. You think that Crosby is the only person who gets that kind of treatment? Try living in Windsor, in the paper here if Phoenix wins a game, "Windsor native Jovanovski had a huge goal", or "Leamington's Darren McCarty notched an assist for Detroit last night", or "ex-Spitfire Jason Spezza propelled Ottawa to a win last night", or any other thing. Be thankful that at least Crosby is worth being worshiped, it could be a lot worse and you could just get sports headlines about players who aren't worth the attention but since they're local they get a ton of coverage. You're making it sound like Crosby is just some scrub. He's the face of not just his own franchise, but for the entire league, at a time when it can definitely use some good publicity in the US's eyes (it's barely even considered the 4th big sport down there)

As much as I hate "looking forward", I honestly see Pitt/Det in the final... the San Jose series drained Dallas too much, and falling behind 2 games to Detroit could prove to be too much for them. Philly just looks overworked by Pittsburgh, maybe that will change but I don't see that series going longer than 6 games in Pittsburgh's favour.

Even though I'm a huge diehard Pens fan, I can't wait to see them play Detroit if it happens. It'll be a great series. I think the Philly one can turn out to be good too, if they play a bit more intense in the next few games. I just want to see the Pens win RARRRRR
