Matt Sydal in...the Bourne Stupidity! *Smackdown/ECW Spoilers*
Yeah Smackdown/ECW taped there shows for this week, last night. They are also taping next weeks shows tonight since they are going overseas.



Dark match

-Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore defeat two local talents. One of the locals were injured in the match and had to be carried to the back.

ECW

-Matt Sydal (now known as Evan Bourne) & Kofi Kingston defeat Mike Knox & Shelton Benjamin. Bourne got in some great looking high flying maneuvers and really made another good impression. Kofi got the hot tag and hit Knox with the Trouble In Paradise for the victory.

-Victoria defeated Kelly Kelly via ref stoppage when she drilled Kelly face first in to the mat until she couldn’t continue.

-Armando Estrada is in the back flirting with a new blonde backstage. Teddy Long informs him that she is his new “personal assistant”. Teddy tells Estrada he has to earn his way on to ECW, and tonight he’ll face Finlay.

-Finlay defeats Estrada quickly with a Celtic Cross. Teddy Long comes out and tells Estrada that he has another match right now against Colin Delaney. Delaney beats Estrada with a DDT. Teddy then sends out Hornswoggle who hits a Tadpole Splash and gets the 3rd pin on Estrada. They all dance then Finlay hits Delaney.

-Mark Henry comes to the ring and says that he wants a piece of the ECW Champion following Night of Champions.

-The In Crowd defeat Kane & CM Punk. Morrison hit the Moonlight Drive on CM Punk and got the clean three as Miz restrained Kane.


Smackdown

-Show opens with the VIP lounge, and MVP’s guest is the returning Rey Mysterio. Rey got an insane pop. MVP insults Rey, and tells him that when he wants a beatdown he’ll know where to find Montel. Rey says he’s almost medically cleared, and he’ll be ready to go sooner than MVP thinks.

-The contract signing for Night of Champions is next. Vickie is getting flooded with boos again. Batista again trashes Vickie and Edge on the mic, so Vickie puts him against Khali in the main event. If Batista loses, he’ll join Undertaker as being barred from WWE forever.

-John Morrison defeats Finlay off a distraction by Miz. Finlay tried to come to Hornswoggle’s aid while Miz tormented him on the outside, and Morrison rolled Finlay up from behind for 3.

-Edge is backstage doing a promo when CM Punk appears. Punk tells Edge that he’s coming for his title, but Edge will never know when. The hell, it could even be on Edge’s wedding day. Edge is infuriated.

-Mark Henry squashed Tommy Dreamer.

-MVP is backstage with Edge and Vickie. MVP talks about wanting to negotiate his contract for more money because he’s the best the brand has to offer. Edge scoffs and teases Montel with the belt. Vickie says she’ll consider it only if MVP can take care of CM Punk tonight 1 on 1.

-Cherry defeats Maryse with a DDT to advance to Night of Champions to face Natalya for the Diva Championship.

-Mark Henry has a picture of Big Show backstage. Show has two damaged eyes in it. Mark says this will be Big Show’s fate when he gets his hands on him.

-MVP defeats CM Punk by DQ in a good back and forth match. MVP tried to hit Punk with the briefcase but missed. Punk hit his high knee in the corner and knocked MVP down. The referee saw the briefcase and saw MVP down so he disqualifies Punk.

-Matt Hardy defeats Chuck Palumbo. Chavo Guerrero was on commentary and announced that he’ll be facing Matt Hardy for the United States Championship at Night of Champions. After the match Chavo announces Matt Hardy as the winner and soon to be former US Champion.

-Vladimir Kozlov cuts a promo backstage in Russian.

-Jesse & Festus defeat Deuce & Domino. After the match D&D come to blows and have to be separated.

-Batista defeats the Great Khali as Edge and Vickie watch on from the ramp.

A series of questions:

1. "Evan Bourne"? It's not a bad name, i.e., John Morrison, but they blasted "Matt Sydal" all over last week. Seems a little late, is all.

2. Why did Finlay whack Delaney?

3. Why do contract signings belong on television? It has GOT to be the worst form of "hype" ever created.

4. Let the Russian man speak English. Just because someone is from another country, Sylvan, Kenzo, Khali, doesn't mean they can't speak English. It's fucking dumb -- in more than one sense of the word.

5. Clearly, either Deuce or Domino is moving to Raw -- but which one?

I'm saying Deuce just because he's Jimmy Snuka's son, they will probably hype that.

And Domino will probably move to ECW or one of them moves to ECW while the other stays on Smackdown.

Personally, I don't see the point of trading SD guys to ECW or vice versa.

Yeah I think Deuce will head over to Raw and be a part of the 2nd generation stable. He's not exactly young like the other members would be (he's 36 I believe), but it makes sense.

As for Domino, I'm guessing he'll stay on Smackdown. In a perfect world they'll let him keep the '50s gimmick and give him mic time to build up his character. I legit could see him being the Santino of Smackdown - a heel who gets put in a ton of comedy feuds and whatnot but stays over with the crowd because he is good at his character. Let him bring back OHHHHHH!



This vid from OVW actually shows the beginning of DnD. I could see both guys being like this when they split (Deuce going back into the normal Deuce Shade or Jimmy Snuka Jr. character, Domino getting to go all out).

Evan Bourne? Wasn't that Ashton Kutcher's character in The Butterfly Effect? I think it would be a terrific boost for Sydal's career to be handed a gimmick in which he gets regular nosebleeds and spasms every time he reads a book.

It would be even sweeter if he could just go back through time at will, changing events from the past, but that's Vince McMahon's gimmick.

I have seen pretty good women's matches on the internet. Unfortunately by the time they get into the WWE they become "Divas" making the concept of good stories and matches nigh-impossible, especially with now 2 belts for about 14 people. I am extra pissed that they took away the CW belt to pave the way for this.
