How does Eddie Murphy still have anything you can call a career?

Repetition is a recurring character for eddie in just about any movie of his. If i were in his shoes i'd do the same thing, play the same type of character w/ a different name, make a bunch of money and move on to the next project, sounds pretty sweet.
