Ouch, awful start by Santana tonight. 4 IP, 5 ER...nearly all the runs came with 2 strikes on the hitter. Just didn't have it today...eh, this is prolly only like the 2nd legit bad game he's had all year and it also came with a full week's rest.

Hopefully he pitches better on normal rest against the Phillies or the short-minded Mets fans will boo him.

I want to make fun of the Sexson pick up so bad but I will withhold judgment until the season over.

And before anyone says anything I know its a low risk signing

I hope they pick up Bonds though, would be great. Maybe everyone would then get off the "Classiest Organization in Baseball the NEW YORK YANKEES!" BS because guys can't have facial hair...nah probably not

This is either laughable, or interesting.

Francisco Liriano's agent is asking the players union to investigate the Twins as to why he hasn't been called back up to the roster from AAA. He's 7-0 with a 2.73 ERA in 9 starts down there.

Yep, that happens all the time. The union nearly did that with Matt Wise this year, he was set to return to the Mets' pen but they didn't activate him for awhile.

It'll prolly happen with Luis Castillo too as Damion Easley and Argenis Reyes are > him so the mets aren't rushing.

Ugh I hate the New York media...Santana said like 5 or 6 times yesterday "I have no excuses"...but they kept pressing him into talking about the 8 days off and the fact that he couldn't throw a bullpen over the AS break.....and so of course once they press him into talking the headlines are all like SANTANA COMES UP WITH EXCUSES!!!

Watching Beckett get roughed up...his ERA now over 4....seems so weird how his career has a pattern. Odd numbered years he does well, even numbered years he sucks.

Also watched the Yanks game while it was on...I dunno, I think they are gonna go on a huge tear in the coming weeks so they'll decide against trading for a bat. Don't really see them NOT making the playoffs but then again I felt that same way about the Braves since I grew up with them in the playoffs every year until they finally missed it in 2006.

Walk-off HBP for Molina in the 12th. Kinda leaned into it but it got the job done.

Actually feeling really good about the Yankee pitching right now. If they have one more guy step up for the 4th spot in the rotation they will be in good shape. Moose/Pettitte/Joba have all been solid.

Wow, the Mets and Reds were originally going to start at 7:30, it got pushed back to 7:40 because Barry Larkin is getting inducted into the Reds' HOF and he was going to give a short speech, fair enough.

Well apparently his speech went long and even after it was done they took AGES to get the podium off the field and they are standing around taking pictures. Meanwhile, Oliver Perez has already completed his warmups for the game meant to start at 7:40 and is just standing around and apparently he's not allowed to go back into the bullpen to continue warming up.

Prolly gonna be ice cold by the time he actually gets to the mound in the bottom of the 1st. Bad timing.

Boston papers all over this Manny Ramirez non-sense. Tuned into a sports talk radio show for like 15 seconds today and the first caller I heard was some guy saying "Enough is enough we gotta trade Manny!!" Damn some people are so stupid. There is no possible trade out there that makes this Red Sox team better without Manny Ramirez.

ESPN reports the Brewers have acquired Ray Durham. It's not yet known what they received in return, although according to the Milwaukee Sentinel, OF prospect Darren Ford was removed from his class-A Brevard County starting lineup yesterday "with indications he is being traded." MLBTR covered movement on this yesterday.

Durham, a switch hitter, brings his bat to the Brewers bench and could take over Rickie Weeks' spot on the depth chart if Weeks continues to struggle in the second half.
