Wow, I just read something in ESPN the Magazine that said that the Nationals average 9,000 viewers a game on television...holy shit that's embarrassing Bet they regret building a new stadium instead of just moving again

the mumble is this is all Borus, that Borus is in manny's head and is trying to get Manny a new 5yr deal either in Boston or else where... Borus I'm pretty sure wasn't Mannys agent when he signed this deal, so if the Sox pickup the club option the next 2yr, Borus doesn't get a cut...

if that's true, it's really Sad manny can be manipulated like that... then again, this is the same guy (manny) who tried selling his old BBQ grill on ebay for a profit...

Boras is such a dick...funniest thing is when he instructs a client of his to hold out for a 4 year, $50+ million deal and they wind up getting stuck with a 1 year offer (Kyle Lohse this year...though he'll probably get a bigger contract in the offseason)

The more and more I see of Fernando Tatis, the more I think he needs to stay in the lineup. The Mariners want the Mets to give up friggin Jon Niese for 2 months of Raul Ibanez, hell no.

I would rather the yanks get Bronson than Washburn, because they wont want Melky with Bruce in their outfield.

Yankees are quietly on the prowl for a catcher. They asked the Rangers about Gerald Laird and Jarrod Saltalamacchia. But they didn't get nowhere.

Gotta be someone down on the farm to give Molina a rest. Unless Chad Moeller is sitting on the bench and I haven't seen him.

Wow...John Maine is cruising along, Jerry Manuel comes out because he thinks Maine got injured in the 4th...Maine's velocity starts low upon pitching again but then gets back to normal

...and Manuel pulls him. Now Johan's complete game seems pretty worthless because the bullpen is gonna get overly taxed again. And they show Maine in the dugout and he looks completely pissed off at the fact that he isn't in the game. I think Manuel overreacted here

Yeah, Posada really needed to get it done. Its not like he was hitting at all since coming off the DL the first time. Now he can probably be ready for next season.

Yanks probably should get a catcher or at least start using Moeller more. Molina must be getting near career highs in games played so you would think he will start wearing down if he's catching everyday.

Wow, I absolutely hate games like these. The Marlins did everything they possibly could to lose and the Mets' bullpen still tanks it away. They were shit hot during the streak but they were playing terrible teams. I dunno. A lot of people have been calling for an outfield bat...while it'd be nice, the priority HAS to be getting a reliever.

Right now, I think our rotation truly looks the best it has since 1986 and the offense has been able to come back from most deficits...but the bullpen is just missing something.

God I can't wait for the trading deadline to be over. So sick of the new rumors and speculation coming every 2 seconds.

Question for you Hero...what's the status of Brian Tallet? I know he just hit the DL, but is it a serious injury? I'd like the Mets to get him because he probably wouldn't cost much more than a decent, but not great, prospect. He'd be a helluva lot cheaper than Scott Downs.

Jesus, that is all the Braves got? Kotchman is good, and Teixera is in a walk year, but come on, they didnt even get any of the good angels prospects. They could have easily pulled a better deal. This really fucking seals up the West.

The Braves have Kotchman for 3 years, and Stephen Marek will probably be in our bullpen at some point next year. We saved some money and got a better than average 1st basemen so we can be more concerned about getting 2 OF and starting pitchers for next year.

The Angels get 2-3 months of Teix, and get to deal with Boras. I wouldn't say I'm thrilled that Teix is gone, but I think it was the right move. You have to compare what the Braves got to what we could have gotten with two first round draft picks really. The Braves needs are a little more immediate than that.

I wanted to see him rebound, but I think he needs to go to the minors. it will help him get his stroke back, with less pressure.

And Pedroia breaks up Lackey's no-hitter with 1 out in the 9th. You can pretty much guarantee that as soon as ESPN starts showing the inning the no-hitter will be broken up.

Kotchman is supposed to be a real gem that is just slow in developing. I think that's why there wasn't a boat load of players going the other way.

As for Tallet, he's got a broken toe and I'm not too sure how many years he's signed for, I believe it's just this year but I do not know for sure.

Girardi with some pretty terrible decisions this game. Not sure why the big bat we just acquired in Nady is sitting on the bench. Especially after he hit a HR yesterday.

Don't know why they picked up Sexson either and why they even play him. Problem is they are aquiring a bunch of guys and still have to play the guys they have. They're stuck with too many guys that have to get playing time.

They haven't played Sexson too much thankfully. Sexson and Betemit both shouldn't really be in the lineup except when someone needs a break.

The thing with Girardi is he likes giving too many guys a break at the same time. I've been happy with what Girardi has done this year expect for the fact that it seems like he over-manages the game at times. There's been times where he has sat every lefty he could and played all the right handed bench guys. Getting too caught up in the whole lefty/righty thing can hurt more than it helps sometimes.

Wow, just looked at the Mets' schedule...in their final 2 months they play: 9 against the Nationals, 9 against the Braves, 7 against the Astros, 5 against the Pirates, 3 against the Padres.....that's 33 games against some pretty awful teams.

They need to beat down on those bad teams, unlike the 2007 Mets. I'm hoping the Marlins will come down to earth the next time they play as well.

I would hope so, but this has been going on for a year now. He was always very stubborn with Terry Pendleton about changing his swing. I imagine he has held on for as long as he has because of his defense...which has always been near the top.

Rumors brewing that the Mets, Red Sox, and Pirates are discussing a 3-way trade. Something like:

Mets get: OF Manny Ramirez
Red Sox get: OF Jason Bay, OF Fernando Martinez
Pirates get: C George Kottaras (who they love) and a couple other prospects

The thing that worries me is the Mets' main concern is pitching...and I'm hearing Manny won't waive his no-trade clause UNLESS the team he's going to rips the 2009 and 2010 options out of his contract because he wants to be a FA. If the Mets traded their top guy for Manny, fail to win the WS this year, and don't re-sign him...it'd have to go right up there as one of the worst trades ever.

Yeah but given Manny's contract status, it seems more plausible now. I'm just imagining if the Mets made that trade...and then did another move and got a reliever like Chad Bradford on the cheap as a salary dump. And then Church and Castillo come back...
