I know it's been talked about, but has there really been no thread dedicated to this game? Didn't find one when I searched.

God, this game is so amazing. I almost didn't try it cause it was already an 'older' game (not really older, but it seemed to sort of fall off the radar), but since I got my new PC I have wanted to really challenge my computer. So when DS also purchased a new computer and downloaded this, I just had to give it a try.

Quite simply, this is the most amazing FPS I have ever played. Both from a visual standpoint and a gameplay standpoint, it is amazing. I have my graphics at max, and during the single player campaign I rarely stutter. This is including the XP trick to unlock the Very High settings, which make it just that little bit nicer. It's not quite DX10, but it's damn close.

The sandbox elements of this game so far are amazing. Crytek has proven that they are indeed a very capable company. I can't wait to see Farcry 2, which is being developed by Ubisoft, but looks equally amazing.

Gameplay is rather straightforward, but the nano-suit abilities add a very nice touch and let you better decide how you wish to play the game. So far, I've been using the stealth method, while carefully picking headshots. The guns could use some more variance, but the ability to modify them makes up for a good deal of it.

The AI is actually challenging, and the game itself is just plain exciting. The graphics are near photo-realistic at times, and combined with the well done sounds in the game make you feel like you're really creeping through a jungle. I found myself getting so into it, that things seriously freaked me the fuck out sometimes. I got paranoid and the slightest noises would cause me to start freaking out.

So yeah.. I know there are some of you out there who have this game. Freaking talk about it in this thread.

I downloaded the demo, graphics are breathtaking. Loved the game, think they kind of ruined the demo though, when the giant alien thing comes.

It looks alright but my PC won't handle it and I'm not spending a fortune of GFX cards right now.

I might play it when MAME supports high end 3D cards, because 'll have one then

Crysis really was an unoptomized piece of shit. Ran like shit nomatter what sytem you had. Now theyre bringing out crysis:warhead and have basically said it'll run better due to them having bothered to actually fix the engine. And the fixes MAY find their way to the original game if they can be bothered.

Still find it funny how much of a whore the game was to run and it looks more or less nothing like the preview videos.

Only way to get it looking near the first pic is to mod the shit out of the game, wheras this video basically suggests that out of the box it will look this good .

Game itself was ok but really it was farcry with some things shuffled around, koreans instead of mercenaries, aliens instead of trigens, and a suit that makes you far too overpowering for standard enemies.

I spent $450 on my PC after shipping, and like I said... I run it on max, with the XP trick to unlock very high settings, and it looks gorgeous and runs with no lag. Those things were true when the game was released, but parts are getting pretty cheap now and I built a very high end system for very little money and am currently getting the best out of Crysis.

Seems like you're just bitching because you -don't- have a computer to run it.. and that's fine and all, but this thread was hardly for the people who can't play it, and more for those who can and have.

And I also think it is ridiculous how you expect a game with such rendering to run amazingly on every machine out there. That is stupid. It has amazing graphics, and it was marketed as having that. People knew it would require a high end machine to get the most out of it before it released.. that's the reason I waited until now to even try it. When it released, there wasn't a single game on the market with that good of graphics. There just wasn't. So I don't know how you expected them to make things any better, when at the time it was one of a kind.

Come on now. With my graphics on Very High, I get the same results that video does. And it looks amazing. I can understand if you don't have a decent computer these days and you try and play it but even with a budget PC, you can run this game on max settings and it looks spectacular.

In no way is this game a piece of shit.

On a side note, I would never trust GameTrailers for any comparison videos. They have a long reputation of playing favorites.

Sorry but you don't get those graphics on very high, theres been plenty of compare pics around the net and the game itself looks incredibly dumbed down from the dx9\dx10 jungle fight video (which by the way crytek released and has nothing to do with gametrailers besides the hosting).

The fact the game doesnt look like the vids that were released was the number 1 complaint when the dmeo came out (besides the shitty peformance), people assumed that maybe the hi res stuff was held bakc for the full game and when that came out it was no different.

The vid says dx9\dx10 jungle fight. What would anyone take away from that? Obviously that this is the game in dx9 mode and this is it in dx10 mode. The game doesn't look like that untill you start dicking around with configs or installing mods. As for it not being a piece of shit, maybe not the game but the engine is an incredibly ineffecient piece of shit.

This is how i run the game and it only looks this way after installing a realism mod.

The point is the graphics only look similar to the vid when the games modded, without the mods the game looks nowhere near as good. Seriously just about everyone on the fucking net was ranting and raving about it when the demo hit, thIs place stuck in some little time bubble or something?

And you don't seem to get that two people here are completely debunking your theory, because our games look amazing. They are not lacking in any sense. The shadows are impeccable, and things are absolutely amazing. Are you stuck in a time bubble or something? Must be stuck back in 2007.. because yeah.. the game came out in 2007 and computers had a hard time running it. This is late 2008 and computers are better now, and cheaper. It looks amazing, and runs near flawlessly, and I -don't- have a top of the line PC. What part of that don't you get?

My game is hardly 'modded'. I did one trick to unlock the Very High settings, which would be available to me regardless if I was running Windows Vista. The fact that I am getting this amazing of graphics on XP, using DX9 and not DX10, should be enough to kill your stupid theory about the game's performance.

Well feel free to post up some screenshots of how "amazing" it looks on your pc with standard settings becuase every screen ive seen on standard looks tame compared to when mods are installed.

And its not my theory about the games performance, go to just about any gmaes forum with a crysis topic and theres plenty of talk about it.

I'm not sure you understand how a time bubble works. But either way, even if the graphics don't look like videos, they look amazing. And, again, my graphics look pretty much the same as those in the video (minus the AA). And I can't tell really any difference at all between what I play and the screen shots you posted with the mod. I'd be happy to give the mod a shot but I haven't hit a spot in the game yet where I thought it needed it.

If you honestly look at the game with it's max settings on and you think the engine is shit, then there is really no need to argue with you because nobody will change your mind. But the fact that the engine can pull off those sort of graphics is pretty amazing.

youtube vid showing dx9 standard high settings vs modded dx9 high settings

A jungle fight vid using the same mod, its even more obvious this time around with the shadows of the trees and leaves even with youtube quality.

The game graphically does look good out of the box but its by no means as good as in the videos they demo'd. The biggest difference as that screen says is in the lighting, out of the box things do look very flat, when the ccc mod is applied things look much better.

How about you both try the mod out, install the time "tod" part of the mod as well and see the difference.

btw, the time bubble thing works perfectly well if you think about it the right way
