Youtube Q and hopefully A
A buddy of mine is wanting to post his shows on youtube and he doesn't really know anyhting about how to go about...neither do I. So I figured I'd ask some people who probably do know.
He has the shows on DVD, is there a program he's gonna need to pick what macthes he's gonna want to up, like which part of the file? Dows he need to save the DVD to his pc (and if so how do you do that?) Any help is appreciated, I really don't know squat about this. ![]() |

He'll need to rip the DVD files off of the DVD and place them on his computer via DVD ripping software such as DVD Fab or DVD Shrink.
The files will show up in different formats. All of the video files are labeled as .vob files. There will also be files pertaining to the menu, subtitles, and alternate audio tracks. After he transfers / converts the files on to his computer, he can use a video editing program to create the clips that he desires. Most computers come with a free copy of Windows Movie Maker. It's not a horrible program, but it does have it's bugs. When I was running Windows ME and even XP, it often crashed on me when I tried to use it. Just remind him to save his work as he goes on and he shouldn't have any problems. |

Thanks. Also, does anyone know the file types youtube supports and/or how large the files can be?
