Commentary is not the place for him. I'll definitely agree with that. Todd Grisham, Jim Ross, Michael Cole, Josh Mathews & Joey Styles are all better play-by-play guys signed by the company. I'm not sure if he's still employed, and I haven't heard him announce, but I'm sure Timmy Baltimore would be better, too.
I think the guy could be used to make fans care about other guys, though. One of my big problems with the current play-by-play guys, besides Jim Ross, is that they don't really seem to strike a chord with the crowd as much as Good Ol' JR. The fans don't really give a shit if Michael Cole is here today, or Todd Grisham is gone tomorrow.
Just a random one-off appearance for Adamle: He returns at a PPV, or ECW event, and tells Todd Grisham that he wants his job as ECW play-by-play commentator back. He was the nice guy and walked away from his job as RAW General Manager, but no one offered his gig as announcer back. Todd can then let Adamle know that this is not how job negotiations go on, and that Adamle was a horrible announcer, whereas he and Matt Striker won the Slammy together. Adamle can shove Grisham, or something, and Todd can respond by smacking Adamle in the head with the Slammy.
The fans would love seeing Adamle get his head smacked in, and it would probably get them to see Todd Grisham as less of a tool. People say that angles like this with announcers are stupid, and pointless, but I really believe that the fans need to care about the guys narrating the product to them. It'd take up like two minutes of air time, and it could do a lot of good for Grisham's persona.
