But seriously, I work with Windows, well, I used to, and I want to keep my skillset up. The easiest way to learn a product is to jump in the deep end.

What is going to happen when the beta ends? Are they going to let you upgrade straight to Windows 7 or what? Cause if not, then you have to back up all your shit before formatting again..

They came through on Windows update, I didn't get them off a site.
Req: It shuts down August 1 2009 without any warning. Windows 7 probably won't be out yet so no upgrade. I bet there will be a crack to extend the beta though. Right now, I just overwrote my Ubuntu partition but I've not set it up to boot XP at all. One bug I have found so far, firewire HD doesn't work |

I guess I can deal without the video drivers; it's not like I'm planning on gaming on a beta. |

I only have applications on my C drive, so reformatting is a piece of piss.
I'm using Vista X64 Drivers for everything and they run great. |

Would this just be easier to install on m 2nd hdd that is only used for storage? How would uninstalling be, as in removing win7 but leaving my files on there.

I tried that the other day, couldn't remove the program files directory afterwards, so about 200mb.

When I install, I'm just going to install it to a new partition on my primary, that way I still have access to all my things on my storage drive, and so I can just wipe it clean when the beta is over really easily.

Oh yeah, you might not see your old OS partition. The beta doesn't give it a drive letter automatically, you have to go into disk management and do it manually

I don't know if it's because I reformatted my comp or what, but it seems to be running way faster than Vista. Just everything in general. Like thumbnails are created almost automatically with barely any loading time and everything just feels faster loading.

I am using Windows 7 right now. I like it so far. It has some cool features, and it seems to be running pretty smooth and fast.

It's faster than XP with an improved look of Vista, with less frequent annoying prompts and some nice new features.
Basically, it's the OS Vista should have been. |

^Yep. Just said that to someone like 10 seconds ago. "What Vista should have been."
I wish it was out already so I could upgrade to it permanently. As it is, I think I'm gonna run it primarily until the beta is over. |

Running it as my primary OS now too. I have seen no real glitches so far. Windows Explorer randomly crashed once (actually never happened to me in Vista ever) but that is about it.
Also it is using so much less RAM that it is incredible. With Vista it used to always go up to like 65% if I was using the comp for a while and everything would start to get all choppy. Now I have like 3 Adobe programs open, bunch of Firefox tabs and random other windows and it's only at 40% |

Yeah, IE is the buggiest part of the beta, everything else is stable as hell
Anyone else got a minor problem with video files? When I double-click them, it says that I do not have permission to open then, or cannot find the file. I have to drag them to an open WMP window manually. |
