Because with the exception of Shawn Michaels, Jericho is one of maybe 3 guys who could carry Mickey to not only a decent set of promos but a watchable match? And it's a huge money maker/PR rush for WWE?

Hardly a waste. It's gonna be all in the build, and you're going to have an amazing promo man going against an actor.
It should be a fun storyline, and it's big exposure. I'm sure Jericho is pumped about it. It's great for his character too.

And if you suggest the main event, well it's just not going to happen at this stage. He held the title for a long while and had great fueds with Michaels. He'll get another go too, but not at Mania. What more do you want?

Anyone he could face at Wrestlemania he already has, or will in the next year. Why not do this while they can?
