Now if it was Steamboat anywhere close to his prime, I'd say this. The ultimate babyface vs. Jericho.

I have a feeling it's going to be either Flair coming out of retirement or Stone Cold, I'm going with Austin just cause I don't want to see Flair break the retirement.

Out of them Flair has the greatest chance, but I don't think anyone from that list will be nor should be facing Jericho.

I really don't know who, but I've got a feeling it's going to be bad.

None of the above. While Stone Cold is the best option, I don't want to see Stone Cold beat Jericho, as it makes no sense. If Punk wasn't in MitB, I'd say him, because they could have played off his past history with Steamboat and had him come to Steamboat's aid. Besides that, I could see someone coming to a legend's aid and turning face in the process, like Jericho starts to beat down one of the Samoans, and Umaga saves them.... I don't know...

It'd make no sense for Jericho to go over in this feud, assuming he's facing a legend. Whoever it will be, they're clearly going for fan service. The face has to win this, even more so if it's Austin or one of the other inductees.

Maybe they actually want to make Jericho the 'legend' that his character so badly wants to be. A Jericho win would be HUGE for him. There's a chance he could still win.

It would be huge for him but wouldn't be very logical the way they're booking it. They're clearly setting it up for Jericho to fall. It seems like the classic "bully beats up on XYZ, A comes out and challenges bully, A wins and celebrates with XYZ". And it's fine like that.

Jericho doesn't have to win to get over here. He could have an equal bout with the legend and lose, which I think is the best way to go here. It sends the fans home happy and gives Jericho a bit of chip on his shoulder.

His whole career is a giant chip on his shoulder. Maybe it's time for him to finally step his game up and back up what he says in the ring. I know you're probably right about the way it would actually go, but I'm clinging to this chance that maybe....JUST MAYBE...they'll put Jericho on a level I think he deserves to be on.

If its just a quick segment, then Austin will come out and deliver a stunner, drink beer, blah blah blah. But if its an ACTUAL match, Austin is way too fucked up to actually get in a full on match anymore, so from that I can't tell.

But since its probably not going to be an actual "match", Austin will be there for Jericho.

We'd have seen Austin by now if it was gonna be him unless they're making some kind of last play to get him (he apparently wants more time to get in shape/ready. I'm guessing they were banking on Rourke and then went to Austin when he pulled out) As of now, the only person I can see it being is Hogan. I don't think Rourke will change his mind (hope so though), Lawler would be a stupid choice, I pray Flair doesn't do it and I'm pretty sure he won't and as for Steamboat, he wanted to wrestle Flair a few years back so he's probably willing but I can't see Vince going with him. lol @ the idea of Telly Funka being the guy

Austin going over Jericho helps no one. It makes Jericho look awful since he beat Austin before, yet now he can't beat him despite the fact that Austin hasn't wrestled in years. Furthermore, when you do have a built up heel, you don't blow the buildup by having him lose to a guy who won't be around. It makes no logical sense. If Austin were to come in to answer the "challenge" and Jericho beat him though, it would be huge. Jericho would look that much more dangerous, and he would brag that much more. Then, when you do have someone get the best of him, it actually does something for them too, and helps the roster.

So, yeah, Austin winning helps no one, Jericho winning helps not only Jericho, but other people he wrestles in the future.

Austin going over Jericho in a close match doesn't necessarily HARM Jericho, either.

This is the type of storyline built up only for Mania and for fan service. Jericho's a huge heel and they're setting him up to go against a huge babyface. The heel winning in this situation, compared to previous WWE booking, makes zero sense.

Austin losing the night after his HoF induction really brings the mood down and would be a stupid move. Anyone with a brain can see that.

This is moot anyway, because no way it'll be Austin. Also remember the original plan was (and may still be) Rourke. Jericho going over Rourke doesn't help him at all. In fact, if Rourke gave him any kind of trouble in the ring it would make Jericho look weak.

Apparently Austin can "go for another two years" if he wanted to. He's also in very good shape compared to how he was before he left. Anything can go wrong, of course, and Austin doesn't have a great neck, but he trusts Jericho to work a good match with him.

If he trusts Jericho to protect his health and safety so much, then he might also trust Jericho enough to really put him over. Yeah, Xero is right, the cliched booking of this program would have the legends come out, fuck over Jericho, and allow the face (most likely Austin or Hogan) to get the win. But the smarter booking would be to put Jericho over, and really push him to the moon after Mania. You're going to have a face champion on RAW, most likely, in John Cena, so Jericho would make a great immediate foil for him.

Anyway, I agree with Innovator. If it were Steamboat in his prime, I'd definitely go with that. Jericho vs. Steamboat is a bit of a dream. Unfortunately, Steamboat looks way too old. He'd still have the knowledge to have a good match, though, I am sure.

I don't see why Jericho HAS to go over. Whoever he faces, the match is basically for Jericho to get his ass kicked for what he's been doing/saying to the legends and a loss certainly wouldn't hurt how over he is as a heel.
