I would dare say that Rey was used best in WCW. He beat main eventers and didn't even need his best friend to die for it to happen.

They misused everyone seriously. Some guys they over used, and everyone else the under used. Simple as that, there were breif periods where the booked someone right in a sea of poor and repitive booking.

It's very easily (and technically correct) to point out that WCW fucked up with so many guys. But here are a few that they really missed the boat with, in my opinion:

Bret Hart
From everything I've read about Bret Hart in WCW, they really didn't have a clue what to do with him. He parted ways with Vince McMahon, and then signed with Turner, and they were like "What the fuck do we do now?" Yeah, he got two World Title reigns there, but considered how good Bret Hart was, they really didn't utilise him to maximum potential. Pretty much what TNA has done with every big signing they've made save for Christian Cage.

Sting
Yeah, WCW also "made" him. But one thing that cannot be forgiven is the big fuck up known as "WCW Starrcade 1998." That alone was WCW putting its foot in its own mouth, and fucking up something that should have been so clean-cut. Sting would go on to become an icon of the business and whatnot, so he wasn't completely screwed over by this, but it was horrible and not the correct use of a cash machine.

Chris Jericho
On one hand, WCW used Jericho beautifully. Well, they let Jericho be Jericho, and it was a beautiful thing. On the other, when Jericho did flirt with climbing the ranks in WCW, to my understanding, he got nowhere. Guys like Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, Eddie Guerrero and even, to a degree, Perry Saturn got a chance to work the mid-card a lot. Jericho only really flirted with that scene. Jericho was impressive enough that when he did jump to the WWE, he got a massive reaction and was allowed to debut in a segment with The Rock. In WCW, Jericho never properly even interacted with main eventers.

Steve Austin and Brian Pillman
To my understanding, WCW criminally underused these men both as singles stars, and as a tag team, and they were only ever allowed to climb the ranks when they left WCW for the WWE. It's made especially poignant by the now famous incident where Eric Bischoff told Steve Austin he would never be anything, completely underlying WCW's intention to not do anything with him. This wasn't even a "paying your dues" thing.

Hollywood Hogan
In the later stages of WCW, anyway. Hogan also mishandled himself. Basically, by allowing Hogan the rope that they did, WCW fucked themselves over -- but it also wasn't using Hogan right, because it was using Hogan how Hogan wanted to be used. If Hogan were told to shut the fuck up and get in line, he could have been a far bigger asset for the company than he turned out to be.

The biggest thing that stands out about my memories of WCW mis-using Hogan was when he came out on Nitro after losing the belt, and actually looked naked without the damn thing.

When a superstar looks weird without a belt, it's probably a bad sign.

BIGGER ASSET?

Hogan took that fucking company from shit to Number one. He was the biggest asset they had. Hogan played a part in the end, but in the end, the guys runnings the books spent more than they made, and that was the death of WCW.

They Misused RAVEN! The situation was so bad, that Raven walked out.

They did use him well for a time period though, if I recall correctly. On the whole, I would say Raven was used much better in WCW than WWE. For what thats worth

Yeah, when he came in and got his flock and everything like that it was awesome. I had never seen ECW at the time and I loved Raven in WCW.

Then they teased turning him back to Johnny Polo, going shopping with Kanyon with preppy threads and finally that whole storyline was dropped.
