I miss big hot crowds.
Seriously. Watched the Starrcade DVD and it reminded me during the Monday Night Era how hot the crowd was. Constantly. During any match, the crowd was lively. Now at a WWE event you're lucky to get a decent pop out of anything short of a main eventer.
I also miss the grittiness of the Attitude Era. Nitro, ECW, and WWE looked so great back then. Now WWE is way over produced. Give me a large screen and/or a steel ramp and a ring and I'm happy. And don't get me started on the overproduced gimmick matches, like the retooled Hell in a Cell or the Poontang Prison match. Chain-link fence and piping is all you really need. What do you miss? PS I think I made this thread before but I don't care. ![]() Last edited by Xero; 03-05-2009 at 07:47 PM. |

I was watching The Rise And Fall of ECW yesterday. Fuck, I miss ECW. The crowd was hot through every moment of the show. I would love to be able to download every episode of ECW and start from scratch.
I also forgot how fucking hot Beulah McGillicutty was. Tommy Dreamer is a lucky guy. |

If I remember correctly the fans were throwing stuff in the ring during the ending of the Hogan-Goldberg title match. The crowd attendance was way too big.

i've been watching a lot of ppvs from 97-99 lately and GOD DAMN is the crowd hot. they seriously cheered for anything and anybody that was slightly exciting/entertaining. and they only got hotter as the card progressed. it's so much more fun to watch a product when the fans are flipping out.
also 1998 saw a lot of hot talent debut. what a good year. i want that year back. |

I miss the way that it looked. Everything was smaller and more intimate. I don't know why but watching some old stuff from 97-99 made me wish the things were closer together. The fans were closer to the ring and the entrance. During Hell in a Cell you couldn't walk between the cage and the barricade. On the surface it seems like something minor and pointless but I think it's just changed the feel of the show with the fans being further from the show.

I didnt really watch WWE back then, I was WCW solid, and yeah the crowds were absolutely rabid.
And anyone vs. the nWo was money, I take nothing away from DDP but the night he "turned" on the nWo made him a superstar. Before that yeah he was there but he wasnt going anywhere that fast. Good times. |

I miss the old massive ramp and stage. It's tiny these days. Probably to compensate for the size of the set these days.

I miss storylines for the whole roster, not just 3 main contenders and groups of 5 people fighting for like 10 belts.

I was disappointed that the documentary was only 45 minutes. It goes into pretty good detail up until 92 or 93 and then just rushes through the rest of the WCW run in about ten minutes.
Match selection is solid, though. Last edited by Xero; 03-06-2009 at 01:39 PM. |

I miss when crowds were able to interact with the fans. Stuff like R-Truth is a good start, but I wish there were more fights that just break out into crowds.
