Rate WWE's current product from 1-10

I just wondering how my ranking compares to others

I give it a solid 8. The feuds and storylines right now are pretty compelling. I haven't had the "I can't wait for Raw" feeling in a long time.

8 sounds about right. I am really more interested in Cena/Edge/Show than I am Orton/HHH. They kind of lost me with the whole Orton's house thing last week. I still think the match will be good, but Orton's build is cooling a bit. Everything else looks like it will make for a pretty good Mania.

I give it an "8". For all the crap the WWE gets for being kid friendly, there have been some excellent matches. I really like the In Crowd/Colon Brothers feud and the matches have been great. Jack Swaggar is friggen awesome and has done some great matches with Christian. Cena is what he is, but the crowd loves him and it's good to see the crowd going during matches. Orton/HHH is pretty good and I've loved Jericho's promos.

7.

I'm liking how 'Taker/Michaels is working out and Edge/Show/Cena has somewhat of my attention with the long shot of Cena turning heel at or after 'Mania out there.

Then again, Vickie pulling double duty on both Raw and Smackdown is starting to get to me. Kinda wishing Linda would be brought into the fold somehow.

They need to break there PG image they acquired over the years, get a little bit edgier. I'd also like to see them re-haul their website and change their writing style....that has nothing to do with the product though.

7 because I can't vote 7.5. It's pretty good right now, been kind of exciting for almost a year now. Seems like WWE is on the right track, but you never know. They could go back to 2003 WWE. Let' hope they don't.

WWE is in a middle of a cycle though, if you think about it.

When I started watching wrestling in the early 90's, it was mainly aimed at kids, like it is now. All those little kids in the crowd cheering for Cena is the same as all the kids (like me) that used to love Hogan.

it's definately been a lot better then the last couple years, but like Supreme said, it can be so much better. They are so inconsistent and take steps backwards when they redo angles from 10 years ago without making any progression at all.

I give it a 5

To be honest, I feel we're on an upswing right now. I don't think this is the swing that will get us there, but I could see the product being vastly improved by SummerSlam 2010

Personally, I feel it's about a year into great improvement. I started to see a real dramatic change in the winter of 07. If the trend continues, which I think it is going to, I agree with Xero's assessment.
There is a lot of young talent emerging. Not just to fill spots, but to take over altogether. Many of the guys who hung around forever have been cleaned out. I expect more good things in 09.

3. There's been nothing in the last year that has kept my attention. I usually just have the stream of Raw in the background, while I'm on other websites.

I find the entire product to be predictable an
d boring. And if they do anything unpredictable, I'm likely to miss it because my expectations have been lowered to a point that I rarely tune in.

It was very bad about 2 years ago, but it has gotten better and better every show. We still aren't at the top of the game yet, but I think it has been great. I believe it will continue to get better throughout the next couple of years, with all of the up and coming talent

Do you remember Raw before 1998? There was no decent mid card to speak of and you'd be lucky to get a interesting main event. They saved everything for PPV.

Then we get to the Shawn Michael's era with promos that would take up a quarter of EVERY show.... Likewise with the HHH era, but even worse, his were half a show

I've watched WWF/E since the early 90's and I think raw is the best it's ever been. Sure, there's no huge feud like bret/shawn, austin/vince or rock/whoever but as a whole the writing and show's are far more solid

I do wish they'd merge the smackdown/raw rosters though, and cut down to just WWF, Intercontinental, ECW, Tag Team and Women's Championship belts. That would be a big step towards perfection. While we're at it go back to JR and a sarcastic, heel King on Raw too...

Yea. I have my opinion, and you can all have yours, so I can't dispute the validity of any votes. If you think it's a 3, then so be it.

But I have to wonder, if the current (or even past year) product is a 3, where do other time periods fall. WWF pre-97? WWE circa 2004-2006? How about WCW in it's final years? Where do you rank the current TNA product?

I dunno. "Below average" seems kind of low, by any stretch of the imagination I can comprehend.

Yeah, i think the people who said 3 are just people who have generally lost all interest in wrestling anyway.

I don't know that I'd give anything a full 10, just to reserve it as a certain standard. I'd give the height of the attitude era a 9.
A product that was a solid 10 would probably be WWF Wrestlemania 17. If not just that event, only for a few weeks surrounding it. At that point things were nearly perfect, and only looked to be getting better.

I think that's the apex of success/power/quality for a promotion, for a bunch of reasons.

I'll go with 8. The product was solid. The story lines are good, the matches are getting better, and the younger guys are starting to get the push. I will be interested to see how old guard politics will play out over the next few years.

As for the old guards...

Well HHH is going to hang around for a while, and he should.
Jericho will become even higher on the veteran status list as the years go on. He's still fresh and entertaining, and can go. He doesn't come off as old or tired. He's also a great asset for the company since he can teach the young guys a lot, and fill any role on the roster.

HBM and Taker...who knows. I have no problem with either of them since they both perform excellently still, but the sooner they leave the sooner the product becomes "younger." They could conceivably keep putting on good matches for years, but they get older looking by the day and there becomes less and less for them to do. Neither is going to set the world on fire with a title reign, so having them pass the torch and move on is better done while it means something.
They both still bring the A-game, but with each passing month you hear more and more "these guys are still around" comments, and they become less and less effective.
I don't want to see them embarass themselves, or become shells of their former selves like many have done.
It pains me to say this, but I'd like to see them both make their "final runs" in the next year or two.

I'm glad ranking veterans have cleared out in one way or another. It's a shame Foley and Angle aren't in the WWE anymore, but that's two open spots. The midcard being rid of guys like Holly and Viscera in favor of younger guys is a good thing.
I enjoy Finlay and Dreamer, but I think they'll be making the transition from in-ring to road agent sooner than later.

Two semi-main event names come to mind that I'm looking for to retire this year. JBL and Kane. JBL has been entertaining enough on the stick, but he takes up a spot that could be better filled.
Kane, I'm sorry, just needs to retire. I think he's great and had a great career but there's really nowhere left for him to go, and his bland incarnation working tag matches and switching brands every few months is treading water until the inevitable retirement. By this time, they have enough credible stars to fill the void. In the past, he's been a reserve for the main event, or big matches.

The WWE has all the talent in the world right now, no doubt. But they've still got a lot of issues to sort out if they are ever going to create those superstar types like back in 97-2002. They've got Cena and have done a tremendous job at protecting him. I know a lot of you got sick of him a long time ago, but he's got that true superstar feel to him. I will tell you we wil be iin for some kick ass programming when he turns heel.

They need to work out the issues of thier totally scripted shows, from the interviews to the predictable segments. This is my #1 problem with the WWE. I can literally sit here and predict the outcome, even down to who is going to interfere and interupt, of every segment. It's ridiculous. There's no spontaneity at all. Even with Cena, who has proven he can go out there and talk on his own. I hate it and it really kills every show.

They also need to write more in depth storylines, especially for the midcard. I'd like to see a lot more hate/passion/emotional attachment involved in these angles. I want to believe that the wrestlers feuding want to rip each other's heads off. This is probably my biggest gripe of them all. I used to love tuning in to see HBK get his ass kicked by Bret or HHH by Foley or Vince by Austin or Kane by Taker or the Outlaws by Foley/Funk or Booker by Rock. The wrting lacks these kind of passionate feuds

Which leads me to the inconsistency of booking. The WWE does this all the time. They fall in love with a guy, give him a nice push and then totally pull his legs out from under him. Punk, MVP, Orton in the past. It really confuses the audience and kills any kind of "superstar" perception they may of had for a particular wrestler. I understand some guys just don't have it, but guys like MVP and CM Punk?

These are just some of the things that kills the shows for me personally today

And to that Not Booked Poster, did you watch WWF 1997 at all? Come on now

I ranked it a 2. TNA is -1234255. WWE in 1997-1998 was un fucking real, and also in 2000-2001. 1999 was successful but crap.

I liked 1999

Yeah until recently The main event title scene was "I want the title" no emotion against the guy holding it just someone wanting the title. I was looking forward to Cena vs Orton but they shot their load and made it just about the title. It wasn't until after there title match it had anything to do with something else beside the title
