That's a little misleading. With Milwaukee's win tonight, there are 3 NL teams with 40 wins now, with San Francisco at 39 and Colorado and Florida at 38. Texas and the Angels are barely at that 40 win marker. It's not like there's some huge disparity between the two leagues' win total.

I'll give you that the AL is the better league, but it's not really fair to call the Dodgers' competition horrible when 2 of the NL's top 3 teams in the wildcard race are out of the West. At this point you could argue the West has been the best division in the NL after the entire Central crapped the bed over the past few weeks.

Yeah that's true w/ the 40 win thing, I just looked at it real quick and noticed that. NL West may have a wildcard contender or two in it but if you put the 2nd place team in the NL West in the AL East right now they would be fifth.

NL Central isn't even the worst though, NL East this year is awful - standings wise at least. Mets are barely .500 right now and are only 1.5 games back from 1st

Actually, most articles I've read have said that the Cards overpaid for a rental player, as Perez was their closer of the future.

Would have loved to see the Mets get him but the Indians wanted Bobby Parnell and another minor leaguer...I really think/hope Bobby can turn it around, I hope his recent struggles have been due to a dead arm period.

It's hard to be optimistic when you are throwing out the kind of lineup they are.

As I've said, though...if they can limit their gap between them and the Phillies long enough for reinforcements to arrive after the AS break (Beltran and Reyes around or just after the AS break, Delgado hopefully not too long after that, Maine and Perez pretty soon, Putz and maybe even Wagner in August)...they've definitely got a shot.

Hernandez has been great but the first inning might be his undoing. I just have no faith in this lineup at all.

Mets are gonna need to hold it here and score in the 8th cause they aren't gonna score off of a fired up Mo going for #500.

Shittiest part about the Mets' situation right now is that they are in absolutely no position to make a trade. Everybody in the league knows they are banged up to a ridiculous extent...and so they will ask for an arm and a leg from the Mets.

Bobby Parnell's been requested by every team the Mets try to trade with. He's been bad lately, but still...do you really wanna trade your 24-year old, 96 MPH throwing set-up man for a bat that still might not even be enough? Omar's in a really tough spot.
