Part of me thinks Minnesota anticipated this happening, which is why they drafted Jonny Flynn, too. They hold the rights to Rubio, and like their GM has been saying, they don't really care if he stays in Europe at this point because they're not going to win anytime soon, anyway. They ultimately hold his rights, and right now, if he wants to play in the NBA anytime soon, he'll have to play for Minnesota. I think they have a lot more leverage than people are giving them credit for. They're probably better off letting Rubio further develop in Europe (maybe he'll develop an actual jumpshot...who knows) and wait until his contract buyout isn't so large. I think part of the problem is that Rubio needs to pay the team $6 million, and under league rules, the NBA team can only pay like $500,000 of a buyout...Rubio didn't even make $1 million this year from what I remember.

Yeah that's why he wants the bigger market I'd assume, more opportunities for endorsements to pay off that pay out. Pretty crazy that NBA teams can only play half a mil though, the Red Sox paid 51 million for Daisuke

Kidd's done. The Knicks would be better off signing Sessions to an offer sheet or trying to trade for Rubio.

The Villanueva news doesn't surprise me. Prior to this year he was a pretty big disappointment, and even though his numbers went up in a contract year, he just wasn't going to be brought back. He's not a Scott Skiles player at all. I have no idea where they'll find a replacement, but they're probably better off long-term saving the money and investing it elsewhere.

About a half hour from free agency opening up...I wonder how many deals are going to be announced overnight.

i would disagree hes much better then both outlaw and batum the blazers weakness this season came from the SF position and they needed a good vet blazers were the 2nd youngest team last season

hedo brings and 3 point shot and a extra ball handler which is dangerous having roy coming off screens and blake getting set up for a open 3 point shot

the blazers are the leading team to get him 5 years 50mill offer

well i sort of agree all he is is a above avgerage player but for a team like the blazers he could be what makes them take a step forward

If Gasol, Conley, Gay and Mayo continue to mature, and they can somehow add one more bench piece, they could be a upstart team to make a run at the 8th seed.
