Ill just ignore the personal attack, Jim.

When you began the game, you cannot tell me for a second that you expected the ending from the start. As time went on in the game, I guess I expected something of the sort though I still wasn't entirely sure as I believed

That he was honestly going to get to settle down and it be a feel good ending and for a short time it seemed like that was going to happen. It felt like the game was coming to a close at that point and despite the obvious I was shocked that they went through with killing one of those characters that were
nicely developed, though as I said the ending fit really well and was one of the best I have ever experienced.

I understood the themes and knew something grim was likely going to happen
and in all honesty, I saw his wife being killed and him going out for revenge (in a sequel)

His son ending the game was incredible and again, one of those endings that you just don't forget. Sure with the growing theme I SHOULD have expected it but for a moment it really seemed like it was going to be a happy ending.


As for the Joker, I saw The Dark Knight on opening day so I could hardly fall in line. I thought the performance was exceptional and Ledger really captured the demented pyschopath who beat Robin to death with a crowbar.

That's not to say Nicholson (sp?) Was bad, he fit the theme perfectly with his Joker. Ledger captured the dark grim world Nolan created to a T. Now of course I expect you to tear that apart with your analytical expertise finding some flaw with it to use against my opinion so you come off as intelligent because you couldn't just enjoy a good movie and agree with someone but rather had to find and remind people what you thought was wrong with it.

That is what you do, Jim.

What I alluded to as you began to find out more about Marston was that he wanted a normal life with his son and wife. You can usually draw a conclusion that this would have something to do with the end of the game in him getting that.

Nope, not retconning. A poor selection of words in the former statement would make it seem so. The games message is painfully obvious that even a neanderthal such as myself understood it fine.

That the mistakes of your past will always make trouble for your future. Its a good message and one that was cleverly spun into the ending. However as much foreshadowing it had when

SPOILER: show
John gets to settle down for that brief period of time and be a family man after redeeming himself by hunting down his old gang (furthering the message that they couldn't escape their past either)

The brilliance of the ending in my opinion is that to end the game, you have to have his son kill the man responsible for his fathers death. Even he couldn't escape his fathers mistake. Though the ending was a farcry from the standard boss fight it fit the story beautifully and I will reiterate that it was an exceptional story.


I bet you'd have to look them up on Wikipedia or a similar site to even tell them to me if I hadn't already alluded to a couple.

ill admit I just did to check for anything that I missed that wasn't as apparent as the main theme and the underlying one that settling the west had come at the cost of the Native Americans being slaughtered.

Another theme that's readily apparent as it is in nearly all westerns that the towns and communities were run by the biggest and best gun if the law wasn't present and lends to the fact that without laws in place we would be a bunch of animals.

This is both right and wrong, I liked the Joker long before this movie but only read his backstory and Batmans backstory AFTER seeing Batman Begins as I wasnt aware he trained with ninjas in the mountains. I've always enjoyed the Joker character as he seems to be the ideal fit for Batmans code of morals.

I think the Burton Batman films still had too much of the
campiness that the 60's show had and that Nicholson's Joker reflected that. The movies still receive fanfare due to them being done first and people being fans o
f the franchise but I believe Nolan captured the true essence of Gotham far better then Burton did.

Though from what I can tell from watching Req play Arkham City for 10 mins, Nolan was outdone on that front.

But that's not really to the point.

The LA Noire ending pissed me off at first, but then thinking about it afterwards it was pretty decent, didn't quite have the same effect on me as this ending though.
