Twins aquire Carl Pavano from the Indians.

However, A's release Jason Giambi. Not surprised, it's been floating around the rumor mill for a while now. Will be surprised if somebody picks him up for the remainder of the season. But I think this is the end of the road.

This is what i never understand about MLB, they have the trade deadline but it seems to last maybe 1 week before some deals or trades occur. Did Twins actually do a trade or its one of those Designated for Assignment style deals ?

Seems odd to have a trade deadline but then allow trades after it.
