I agree, but not so much because of his size. I think it works for a brawler. It's more that he's going bald. I don't think this is a major problem, but it's more a con than a pro.
He is only 25, and for a guy his size, he's not nearly horrible in the ring. Some of his strikes look down-right brutal. He's also fantastic at playing characters. He got the mannerisms of Kane down for that role. I wouldn't mind seeing him with with a "serial killer" type gimmick. Don't make him just another monster, as that doesn't really set him apart. Give him a hook, similar to the one Mike Knox has (where he seems really knowledgeable about the human body). I think Festus is talented enough to play a character with depth and sophistication (if the WWE can write one for him). Also, his name needs to change. "Festus" just doesn't work as a serious contender's name. Looking on his Wikipedia page, during his early days teaming with Jesse in OVW, he went by the name "Justice Dalton." This could actually work for him -- especially if he's playing a character that doesn't seems a little morally off-centre. |
