A little belated, but Planes, Trains, and Automobiles is a Thanksgiving movie. I own that but forgot to watch it.

Is this the one in which it turns out that John Candy is homeless at the end?

If that's the one, I was sooo saddenned by that ending as a kid. I felt sympathy for fat people for like 2 days afterwards.

He's not homeless. He's a traveling shower curtain salesman. He tells Steve Martin all about his wife and then it turns out she's dead so he has no where to go for Thanksgiving. It is really sad

I believe it went something like this:

Steve Martin said his goodbyes and left, then came back after a second to see Candy still sitting there (don't really remember where) and asked him "Why aren't you going home?" and he said "I have no home". Might be wrong, haven't seen it in years.
