Staying on as long as it takes, sounds like they are trying to compete with Raw also staying on later tonight

Me too to be honest. Raw did not live up to what it could have been..no surprises..nothing. I thought TNA delivered very well and was underestimated.

TNA had the advantage tonight because of all the surprise appearances lined up, and the air of 'anything could happen next'... something which WWF and WCW had in abundance 1995-2001. However, in 2010, there is no way TNA could maintain that feeling on a weekly basis.

I flipped back and forth and TNA had my attention the majority of the time.
The only time I kept my TV locked on to WWE was when Bret was on. Oh and AJ/Angle was great but I think I may have overdosed on near falls. |

I agree with you on keeping up the surprises. I don't like how the masked attack man ended. He has been hitting AJ for weeks, gets in the ring during the match, is thrown out, and then is gone. I know that they will go back to him again so we can have the revealing of him, but he now looks like a pussy for leaving. A little disappointed on that. |

They might not be able to maintain the same excitment on a weekly basis but they did however made Monday wrestling intresting even if it only lasts for tonight. The buildup of hype and initial beginnings on both shows did help to bring back some of the old Monday Night War feeling in wrestling.

I watched TNA really for the first time ever tonight, and I was not really that impressed. The main event was good, but the rest looked like what I normally see on Impact when channel surfing on Thursdays.

Ill give the nod to TNA tonight. And since I am not a Bret Hart fan, TNA definitely had more of my attention. Though some of the stuff was way too WCW, some was entertaining. Jeff appearing out of nowhere surprised me. Though I was expecting an Angelina Love returrn, but they maybe waiting on that.

Overall, I would have to say the wrestling was top notch. Except for the tag team squash match with Hernandez and Matt Morgan. I like how in TNA there is an air of unpredictability in their matches. In WWE you know who is going to win nine times out of ten. In TNA, it is anybody's game. Somebody like Elijah Burke can beat Desmond Wolfe.
However... there really wasn't much wrestling on the show. There were about 15 segments about people talking about how "change" was coming to TNA (rather than, you know... doing something), and 17 of Hogan arriving to the arena (and then saying he was in the back all day). Then of course you had all of the old faces showing up, to the point where the show became "HEY!!! LOOK AT ALL THESE OLD GUYS!!! YOU KNOW THEM!!!" rather then the "Observe our talent, both young and old. See what they are capable of and tune in again!" it should have been. The worst thing was their production values were absolutely TERRIBLE. Right from the get go with that cage match. First they used up a whole bunch of talented guys in one go, that could have been spotlighted throughout the show. Then they put them in a BRIGHT RED cage where the bars are so wide that you can't see a thing in a wide shot. Leaving them to have to use awkward angles that missed half the match, half the moves, and hurt your eyes to watch. Then it ended in a BS finish. Right from the getgo they dropped the ball. Then for the rest of the hour in which they should have been really pushing their product to the fans, they have something like 5 commercial breaks in 10 minutes, showing the progress of Hulk Hogan's arrival, or some other old guy arriving. TNA really really dropped the ball here. I'm kind of mad and bewildered at how stupid they could be. |

VAL VENIS! Was not expecting him to be there. Hopefully he's a road agent and a recurring character, ala Kip James ("Now I've got to clean up this crap!").
Jeff Hardy signing is a nice surprise, although it was pretty expected. It'll be interesting to see just what he will do. AJ Styles vs. Jeff Hardy for the TNA World Heavyweight Title would be a very nice match, you have to admit. |

And it was only about half an hour/45 minutes of it too, until 2am when Raw came on TV anyway. Out of that half an hour/45 minutes though, I only saw one match with ODB & Tara and the rest was adverts, limos and Mike Tenay talking about Twitter. ![]() The only thing that got me watching in the first place was the mention of Jeff Hardy in this thread. Then Flair arrived and that kept me watching, but after watching Raw and then reading this thread and finding out who else made appearances on Impact, the first thing that came to my mind was that Impact, in a way, just basically got merged with Hogan's Australian Tour that he did in November. All the new faces on Impact were all on Hogan's Tour, apart from Hardy and Bischoff. (From what I read elsewhere, Bischoff was there too) But I don't think I'll be watching TNA anytime soon. |

I lol'd @ one of the guys they were interviewing about how he grew up watching "old school" wrestling like Hogan vs. Andre and seeing the Ultimate Warrior wrestle.

Watched all of Raw and have Impact to watch when I find it. If it's anything like the last time I watched Impact - 90% commercials and hype videos, I will know that nothing has changed.
