What happens in the future remains to be seen, but I honestly believe Jay's show will bring in ratings like they did before. Heck, even if some Leno fans do think Leno cheated Conan out of his spot....they're not gonna care. They like Jay that much. Plenty of fans in the Leno fanbase hated seeing Jay go. Infact, in real life, it's amazing how different people are then they are on the net. In the real world, I've come across plenty of hardcore Hogan fans but on the net, most people hate the man. And in real life, I've discussed this whole Late Night thing at work, and plenty of my co-workers said they were Leno fans, and found Conan to be annoying. (And I do disagree with that.) With all due respect to the internet, and it's regulars, if the net had any force in any world beyond their computers, guys like Hulk Hogan wouldn't be still working, and WCW would still be in business. There's a reason why the pros are where they are at, and why the "experts" are working average joe jobs, and posting on the web forums. While no one is without error, I think NBC knows what they are doing now. They made a huge mistake asking Jay to leave, and they're trying to correct it. The waiting game is the next move. NBC is gonna try to let all this cool down, then Jay will be back in a few weeks, and rather the ratings are there or not remains to be seen, but even if they are not there right away, I am guessing they will be soon enough......cause Letterman's style of humor differs from Jay's, and not everyone is into Letterman's brand of comedy, and those people are gonna wanna laugh too. |
