Roids will help you build size but they don't really help you lose fat. That's were a healthy diet and training come in. If a fat guy takes roids he'll get bigger muscles and perhaps lose a little weight around the midsection. Take a look down your local gym and there are tons of guys with big arms and a massive gut. Now if you're naturally inclined to have an athletic body (a mesomorph) roids will make you look like a Batista, a John Cena or a Randy Orton depending on how and how often you train and take the roids. Anywho, it's a Catch 22 situation. Vince creates a climate in which the wrestlers feel they have to take roids in order to have a shot at the big time. The audience get accustomed to this and we expect to see that. Someone comes along looking "different" or "normal" even and we make comment cos it's not what we're used to seeing. Will it change if Vince changes his perception? Maybe. By pushing guys like Mysterio or Punk he can change people's idea of what you need to be to be a champion. But you then need the audience to change it's perception. Back in that Catch 22. As an industry and as an audience the standard is incredibly high to the point where it is unattainable. Hence the guys are on the roids. Put any guy from the WWE roster to next to a "normal" guy on the street and see who gets called "fat" or "out of shape". Hell, this industry considers 5'11" to be short, a guy that size would tower over me! |
