Just the gif of the Sharpshooter was amazing. That match would have gone over so much better had it been really short.
Where were the trash cans by the way? I figured Bret would just blast Vince with some trash cans. Maybe a quick brawl through the crowd. Then a couple chairshots and a Sharpshooter would have done it.. |

i would have booked hart/vince like this:
Bret starts off by beating vince with fists. he beats vince to his knees in the middle of the ring. Vince low blows bret. bret cumbles to the floor. Vince then taunts Bret and gives bret a couple of kicks to the body as bret lays there and writhing in pain. Vince goes for the sharpshooter, bret counters it into a figure four leg lock. Vince is screaming and just can't make the ropes. heels, possibly Regal and someone else, comes in an pulls vince along with Hart to the rope. The Hart dynasty come down and fight Regal and the other heel. The heels over power david hart smith and tyson kidd so natalya runs down only to get caught between the heels as they prepare to beat her up. Bret rolls out of the ring and takes the heels out only for vince to hit him in the back with a steel chair (very worked shot obviously) This sets up vince sadistically strangling bret with the power cables until bret over powers vince. They end up in the ring where bret gives vince the chair beat down.He then proceeds to work the leg, dropping elbows. As he holds vinces legs wide open , he shouts out, "this is for montreal!" and gives vince a punch to the balls. he then turns vince over in the sharpshooter. Vince taps and taps but hart doesnt let go One of the hart family members puts a mic near vinces mouth and you hear vince scream "I give up! I give up" Bret releases the hold. Bret puts his foot on vinces chest and stands there in victory. |

He did one to Kane at Mania 14, I think. It didn't look nearly as good though, likely due to Kane's weight and size

but come to think of it, I don't think he jumped off the ground. I think there was just more force behind it.

I ate the whole match and moment up last night, but I didn't really get way into the "farewell" of Shawn, because I wasn't sure whether to take it as legitimate or not.
As time went on, I started to realize that it might actually be it. I think that video is pretty good indication that he's indeed retiring, or at the very least intends to. I think tonight will seal it. Still kinda hasn't set in yet though. I hope he sticks with it. It's a shame that thanks to Flair and others I'm apprehensive to accept such a thing. |

Those who hated Bret/Vince... I put most of the blame on Vince. He looked practically immobile in there. Definitely be happy to see him never compete again.

I thoroughly enjoyed Mania. Other than most of the undercard being cut short a bit on time.
I really, really like the Sheamus/Triple H match. Cannot say enough how impressed I was with Sheamus. Really stepped it up there and I have to say I hope they continue the recent booking with him looking legit. H did a helluva job himself, and I think this match is a sleeper classic. Really liked Orton/DiBiase/Rhodes. Crowd was pretty hot, and the match was built and paced well. The double ddt, punting of Rhodes, and RKO finish was good, and I love the cylinder tron coming down with the "RKO" and wings spread as Orton pulled out the vintage pose. I have to say that Orton has been booked perfectly as of late. His anti hero antics are being kept in place and it's making him seem so bad ass. I wonder what is next for Orton, seeing a he's got to be considered a top face behind Cena right now. Punk/Mysterio was to short. I enjoyed the action, the pacing was good. It just wasn't given proper time to really build. Cena/Batista was pretty darn good. It was a great "big match" main event. I'm very pleased with the entire build during the match. Great spots, and the winner was not made clear, to me at least, at any point. Bret/Vince was a little too long, but I liked it. I wish the crowd would've been much more involved, as there was a story being told. The whole Hart family being out there was overkill, but I enjoyed seeing Bret stiff Vince with those chair shots. Edge/Jericho was a great match. I think the Spear through the barricade should have been included into the match rather than post match. The crowd seemed to have trouble getting behind both guys, and a big time spot like that would've served well in getting them involved. Jericho winning made me happy ![]() MITB was great, even though it was mad crowded. The booking was excellent, making it unclear as to who was actually going to get the rub this year. Kane, Bourne, Swagger, Christian, McIntyre, and even Hardy all looked to have the match won at some point or another. I love the surprise Swagger win. Great swerve. We will see where Swagger goes from here. Tag match was too short. I think the Miz/Morrison aspect of the feud was almost completely aborted. Think they missed out on what could have been a pretty good opener. Divas match wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. Well, sans the Vick "splashes". I was really hoping, after seeing her blow a kiss in what I'm believing to be Eddie's honor, a frog splash. But alas. Also, was it me, or was Kelly Kelly either hurt from the splashes, or laughing hysterically? Undertaker/HBK was great. I did like last year's match a little bit better, but I think that was due to it being their first Mania encounter. The match itself was great. HBK and Taker deserve a pat on the back for doing a damn fine job of differentiating this match from last year's. Everything seemed to click. The end sequence has to be my favorite end to a match ever. HBK, signally and seemingly begging Taker to end his career, almost accepting that he cannot win, was absolutely fucking epic. From the throat gesture to the slap in the face and finally with the jumping Tombstone, perfect ending. |

Same here. We'll see what happens tonight - but anything less than a Flair-esque sendoff is a MAJOR signal that HBM will return (in some capacity) at some point in the next year.

It looked like there was a lot of activity in that "dead" crowd. By the end, I was starting to guess it wasn't being picked up well. Even the ending looked kind of muted compared to the response, the physical response from the people in the crowd. |

They were pretty dead until Triple H's match. Then they were dead again until Bret's sharpshooter and some of Jericho/Edge. Then dead again until the end of Cena/Batista and were pretty good for the main-event.
I will say they were better than Ford Field. That crowd was bad |

Like CSL said, open-roof wouldn't have helped. And I guess sometimes in the bigger stadiums an 'atmosphere' is harder to generate. But still, a lot of Mania felt awkward to watch for me. |

A vociferous and excited crowd can make or break (yes, MAKE OR BREAK) a wrestling show. Thing is, I wouldn't wanna trade the stadium set-up for Mania, simply in exchange for a loud crowd; it's pivotal nowadays to the perception of Mania as THE show of the year. Only Madison Square Garden could substitute the stadium setting without feeling like a step down.
WWE needs to find a way of successfully translating the volume of noise among the crowd onto the TV screen, be it more stategically placed mics, turning the volume up on the mix, whatever; I haven't read any live reports from the show, but I'd imagine "lack of crowd reaction" is more something being bitched about by those watching on TV than those who attended the stadium. |

the problem was someitmes it had to be open to let the smoke out and for the over head shots. The early part of the day the lighting was horrible.
Im not sure what else they could have done in such a huge stadium but the set up was not ccrowd friendly I thought. |
