Awesome referees
I just saw that video of Charles Robinson running at WrestleMania XXIV, and I realised what an awesome referee he is. The dude got to call Shawn Michaels' last match. Then there was that whole Little Naitch stuff. Charles Robinson is just a damn likable referee, in my opinion.
Talk about some awesome referees and some incredible moments they might have had. I think it's actually got to be a deceptively hard job to disappear into the action like that, keep the flow of the matches going, and not being allowed to screw up without it being really noticeable. Refs are underappreciated, in my opinion. Pfft |

And let's not forget senior WWE official Mike Chioda. Several years ago I had an opportunity to meet him. Seems like a good guy.

I double-checked, and Chiota referee'd HBK/Taker last year, as well. I like him as an official. Also, I LOVED Jimmy Korderas. I don't even know why, he just seemed like a nice guy. I remember watching an old Attitude-era video, and there was an angle where the referees were all on strike -- except for Korderas who kept coming into to work. The other guys officiating were all substitute refs like Steve Lombardi. The full-time refs then beat-down Korderas because he didn't go on strike with them.
![]() You gotta love how Jack Doan was the ladies referee for a while, too. I don't know if he still does that stuff. Justin King ("the black ref") was doing it for a while. I don't know if that was ever explained, but it was just such a cool ref touch that Doan was the pimp of the striped officials. One guy I will mention, though -- Earl Hebner. While I was a mark, I thought of him as the king of the refs because JR would always point out he was the "senior official." But when I actually see him refereeing now, and even occasionally when he was with the WWE (I didn't look too hard then), he seems to get in the way more than the other referees. Silly ol' Earl. |

The Fraze, myself and Tb1 were witness to the awesomeness of Charles Robinson at the 3/22 SuperShow. They forgot to change the ropes or something and sent the ref and ring crew out to frantically change all the ropes last minute during a wwe for the troops package. If anyone else has done this, then you know it is not the easiest or timeliest of tasks. Charles was the one that was directing traffic and they made it literally as ShowMiz made it to the end of the ramp...unbelievable. That is why Little Naitch runs the show.
I have to throw Chad Patton in the mix. He took on Chris Jericho! Plus he always is nice enough to talk to us after the show. Super cool dude. And Mike Chioda....the man. He is the man they call on for awesome bumps. And also a class act. Gave me his jordan arm band during a show and didn't have his signature arm band on for weeks after that cuz it was sitting on my desk haha Earl Hebner.....the Ric Flair of refs. Too slow and old now. TNA has his son now which I always thought was a damn solid ref. |

He was literally animated in wcw/nwo revenge I believe. One of the best wrestling games ever made. The beginning to an "Attitude Era" of quality wrestling games.

I never was a fan of either Hebner either..... He constantly tripped and bumbled aroubnd in the ring, at times even looking out of place. I could never stand his count either, as he never looked at the shoulders unless it was a 3 Count... always pissed me off..... Korderas, Robinson, Slick Johnson & Tim White are my favourites of all-time

Mike Chioda is very good, but I prefer Earl Hebner. Talk about a ref that could read the wrestlers during the match and then the way he applied a 3 count during the climax of a match. An example would be when Mick Foley won his first WWE title on RAW in 1999. His 3 count on that match was awesome and had the whole crowd going with him.
