Jason Bay has been terrible. Has yet to come through in the clutch.

I don't agree with it, but he will be booed during the next homestand unless he turns it around fast.

Jerry Manuel is the worst manager in Major League Baseball. Alex Cora comes up big as a defensive replacement...then Jerry pulls him because a lefty is pitching despite Cora being better against lefties than he is against righties.

And who gets to hit? Gary Matthews Jr, who has done nothing and then promptly K's. Can't wait for this clown to get fired.

Yeup made a mistake. I end up confusing a perfect game with a no hitter a lot and didn't help I was googling a list of no-hitters/perfect games while ESPN had him on the inning updates.

Still, he pitched 1st ever no hitter in history of the Rockies.

If it was a playoff game then it would be acceptable since you could argue both teams want to win it more but as an early season regular game probably not even worth it to go past a few innings into extra innings. The bullpen alone for both teams pitched well over 400 pitches.

Yeah some people think LaRussa pretty much gave up the game by bringing in position players to pitch as opposed to letting a starting pitcher go, but I dunno. Pelfrey only pitched because he pitched 2 days ago so it was his throw-day anyway.

Shit, yeah...John Maine is pitching. Probably the worst guy on the staff to throw out there after such a long game last night. Even when he's pitching well I feel like he reaches 100 pitches by 5 innings. Feliciano and K-Rod were the only two bullpen guys to not throw at least 30 pitches in the game, and even then K-Rod estimated that he threw about 100 warmup pitches in total, so even he may be unavailable.

Maine's rotation spot is on the line, so I hope he brings it tonight.

Well, that solves it. Mets will get a fresh arm in the bullpen for tonight's game by recalling minor league starting pitcher Tobi Stoner. Fantastic name.

I'd guess Maine and Stoner will both be pushed to the limit tonight, even if they get rocked.

Felipe Lopez's 1-2-3 18th inning was one of the most obnoxiously hilarious things I have seen in recent sporting history. The fucking dumbass relief pitcher on the Mets swung at like 6 straight balls and then somehow actually got a hit and the 3B or whoever overthrew first by a mile so the dude starts jogging into second and Pujols guns him down cause he didn't slide.

Wow, that's a bit surprising. Mets DFA Mike Jacobs to make room for Tobi Stoner. I assumed they were going to just send down Raul Valdes or something.

But it looks like the Jacobs experiment is officially over, and I'd expect Stoner to only be on the roster for tonight, and then either they give Chris Carter a chance...or they've realized it's time for Ike Davis to take his place. Poor Murph might not even get a chance to start regularly this year if that happens.
