Yeah I don't know what's going on with Beckett but he doesn't look like himself on the mound right now. I don't think Oki is doing as badly as Schoenweis or Atchison since once of them is gone once Dice-K is activated and Wake goes to the pen. Hopefully the rest of the bullpen can benefit from Wakefield's experience so it's not just Pap, Bard, and Delcarmen that have to pitch every night.

So i'll be at the Cubs vs Diamondbacks game on May 1st. Suppose to be Carlos Silva vs Dan Haren. Silva is pitching out of his mind right now and i'm scared to death that this will be his " come back to earth " game.

Excited to get a life look at Dan Haren too.

This is my first time at Wrigley ever.

WOOOOOOO finally saw a win in Citi Field.

10 games ago they were 4-8 and in last place by several games. Then they put together a 9-1 homestand (the best in franchise history) and will now head to Philly in 1st place. Awesome.

MLB has decided to tweak a few things in the all star game.

Starting this year:

Both leagues now play with a DH. Even if a the event is held in a NL ballpark. The NL DH will be chosen by the Manager.

Elected pitchers who pitch on the sunday before the all-star game will not be able to participate. They will be replaced.

1 more position player will be added to the rosters.

And a re-entry rule is in effect. If a player has been injured during the game, a player who has already been out there can go back out and fill in.

Miguel Olivo is my new hero after reading this story I think:

Olivo said Wednesday morning that he had passed a kidney stone during the eighth inning of Monday's 5-3 loss to the D-backs, yet he finished the game. And he passed another before extending his hit streak to five games Tuesday night.
Being smoked by a baseball was nothing after that.
"I told Jim, 'After I passed those, I didn't even feel the ball,'" said Olivo, who revealed that he has passed several since 2003. "It hurt, but after it passed, everything was normal.

Cano's a monster right now. Kinda crazy to think what his stats would be if Tex and A-Rod were getting on base at all.

Think he's gonna be the best 2nd baseman in the AL this year. Could definitely see a .300-30-100 year from him.

I gotta say I'm really sick of MLB coming out with the same story every single year about how there are less and less black players in baseball.

I don't care what color the players are, just as long as they're the best of the best. There is nothing MLB can do to stop blacks from choosing primarily football and basketball. It's just the way it is.

I think that there will be a significant increase in black players within the next decade. Selig's aim is to create an RBI initiative in every major city. Once that is complete, more kids will be playing baseball in the inner cities. It's a shame too, because more kids get drafted in the MLB draft each year than the NBA and NFL drafts combined. If you're looking for a pay day then baseball is the way to go. The only thing is that there are not as many scholarships available for baseball as basketball and football.

There is also an economic reason behind the surge of Carribean/S. American players on MLB teams since its cheaper to run development camps and sign players than creating and signing domestic minority players.

MLB gets its diversity in players but at the cost of African-American players more than other groups.
